It wasn’t different than any other day for me (other than wearing a hat with a camera attached). I did feel as though I had someone to talk to at all times, but with strict one way communication. Perhaps putting the IRC chat on my Treo would have been a good idea?

The night before we headed out to the netvibes and snap.com parties. Met lots of great people! Check out photos by Brian Solis from [ snap.com / netvibes ]

Desiree and I started out the cam day with a Starbucks visit and then took the trolley (cable car) to Union Square. She still hadn’t received her luggage that was lost from the flight, so we needed to get her some new clothes.

On the way to shopping, there was a man dancing and singing for money on the streets. Of course this was something we couldn’t pass up. I found a few dollars and we danced for a good 5+ minutes. After our session, we discussed George Benson and how I needed to Google him because he’s from Pittsburgh.

Our next stop was the Apple Store. A nice employee tried to sell me Apple Pro Care but I showed him justin.tv instead. After his slight confusion of what was going on, I walked around to find another confused boy who asked me if I was wearing a camera on my head.

“I’m visually impaired, so this camera is hard wired to my brain so I can see normally”, was my response to his question. Shortly after, I felt the guilt of lying to a complete stranger about being blind and had to fess up.

We finally managed to make it to Old Navy to get clothes for Desiree after being hustled various times on the street. While she shopped, I walked around talking to myself trying to find a hat-cam alternative.

Without luck, I wondered outside to find a man playing a recorder on the street where we chatted some. Finally, he played me “Some Where Over the Rainbow” which was cut short when the wind blew his hat away and I had to chase it down the street. An added bonus was getting a chance to play the drums with another random character we met on the street.

Now it was time for lunch! James from hotornot.com was kind enough to invite us to his office and have snacks next door. The 15 minute walk turned into quite an ordeal but Adam and Karen were text directing me while watching the live stream to assist in reaching our final destination. We even accidently took a cab 4 blocks in the wrong direction but managed to tag the driver with a revver sticker. Eventually we made it to the restaurant and suffered out first loss of connection. Between Frank and Adam, they were able to alert us just about every-time we were down.

After lunch, we headed down to the Web 2.0 Expo. With Desiree’s badge reading Nathaniel Kan and mine Justin Kan, we were ready to go. We met up with Scott Beale of laughingsquid.com where he took some awesome photos and even wrote a blog post with a few.

At this point, we had yet to visit jumpcut so we headed over there after the expo. With Karen on text message direction duty, we made it there without getting lost! We visited a bit and chatted with the justin.tv chat for awhile then headed over to meet Justin for dinner.

Lastly, we went to the viddler party at Varnish:
