Oh, sure.. It’s the iPhone, so naturally it must cost more to own! According to this Business 2.0 blog entry with the just a basic contract, data and 4gig model, you’re looking at a cost of $2,218.12 for two years.
I’m willing to bet most PDA and smartphone users are paying well over that — we just rarely sit down and figure out the yearly cost. Perhaps it’s best we keep it that way?

Scott Bourne on Jun 27th 2007 at 12:58 pmHi Justine - I have been comparing what it costs to own an iPhone with AT&T to other smart phones and to other carriers. It seems that $200 a month is pretty much the norm and the iPhone comes in right around that price point.
It’s a bit more expensive to acquire than some other phones (although my research shows 25 phones that cost more today) but on balance, it’s price is competitive.

~ $2000 for the machine
~ $50 a month for broadband
~ $4 a month for power…
