WHALE SHARK DIES

Posted at 11:34 am | 12 comments

Typically the death of a whale shark wouldn’t be on my top list of things to blog about but I just so happened to have visted the Georgia Aquarium twice this past week.

“Norton, 1 of the original whale sharks at the Georgia Aquarium, died early today, the aquarium’s second whale shark death in five months.

Aquarium officials said in a statement that in the last few months, Norton had stopped eating and showed erratic swimming behavior. The Georgia Aquarium hosts the only whale sharks on display outside of Asia.”

MYBOWLAD.COM

Posted at 7:12 am | 3 comments

If you’ve ever watched the Superbowl then there’s no need to mention the massive media hype around the commercials — You’re probably already well aware.

As far as pricing, a single 30 second ad is approximately 3 million dollars which most companies aren’t able to budge for.. but what if the cost dropped significantly and you could purchase a few seconds of one commercial?

Oh wait.. you can.

With mybowlad.com you can purchase a 1 to 5 second spot which will air during the Superbowl.

T-shirts and signs will be held by none other than internet personalties and viral video creators such as Judson Laipply (the evolution of dance guy), Gary Brolsma (Numa Numa), Justin Kan, Kyle MacDonald (One Red Paperclip) and oh yea, iJustine.

Let’s not forget Evan, Robert and Mark (the three crazy guys behind this concept) will also be starring in the commercial. Check out their website for a full list of changing cast members.

Interested in buying a time slot? Know someone that is? Have them email me!

DESIREE’S BLOG

Posted at 9:33 am | 2 comments

When I chose to lifecast, I didn’t take into consideration how this might effect the other people in my life. Naturally, Desiree is the person that I spend most of my time with — we’re roommates and she’s one of my best friends. So, with that in mind we spend about 95% of our time together.

Check out Desiree’s blog for her thoughts. She’s decided to update a little more frequently (and if she doesn’t, then thankfully I can walk two feet into the next room and remind her).

I too will be writing a more in-depth entry on how things in my life have changed since the start of lifecasting at some point. Little things that you’d fail to think about on any given day play a huge part when there are other people watching you live. It’s quite an interesting experiment..

WEBWARE 100

Webware asks “What are the best web apps?”

The media category includes so many amazing websites that it is almost impossible for me to choose just one. In fact, I don’t believe that I can even partake in such a poll. How do I choose? Which would you pick and why?

These would be my picks:

Jumpcut - Jumpcut has revolutionized online video editing. It’s simple enough for an everyday user, yet still has enough complex features to keep the pros at bay.

Viddler - Viddler is an online video sharing website that allows you to upload, record videos directly from your webcam, share, video comment and time code tag your videos.

Revver - Revver is one of the first video sharing sites that allows content creators to earn money for their videos using a pay-per-click ad system.

Ustream - With the recent popularity of streaming live video, ustream makes is almost effortless to have your own live video cast.

Last.fm - Last.fm is a social networking website that is based around the music that you and your friends are listening to (not to mention CBS just purchased them for $280 million — that’s got to be good for something?).

Flickr - Flickr is photo-sharing and management app site that was bought by Yahoo! back in March of 05.

Zooomr - Zooomr is another photosharing website that has been dubbed as “flickr on steroids” — Hey, anything is possible.

Oh yeah, and YouTube is okay too…

Be sure to check out the other categories here that include everything from browsing to references.
