THE SWITCH TO MT

Posted at 1:46 am | 11 comments

Extremely close to finally having everything switched over to media temple! My old host was datacities and I do not recommended them to anyone.

This past month has been hell — Getting in contact with datacities was near impossible! Emails and support requests took days to respond to… and calling them? GOOD LUCK! There isn’t even a phone number listed on their website anymore. Can’t get much worse.

So far (mt) has been extremely responsive to the massive amount of phone calls that Brent and I have put them through. I believe we may finally be on the right track! Very soon..

Check out Brent’s amazing in depth entry about the experience. [ read here ]

TRAVELING

Posted at 7:02 pm | 26 comments

Hey friends! Just a quick update — I’m still alive! I’ve been in LA this past weekend. I’m currently sitting on the floor in the Denver airport sharing a powerstrip with multiple people (it pays to always carry one).

Anyways, I’m sure many of you noticed my host has failed me yet again yesterday. Soon as I’m back in Pittsburgh I’ll hopefully have everything transferred over to (mt). They’ve been very awesome and thanks to Brent for his assistance.

[ repost video? ]

Today most AT&T customers received a ‘free text message’ with an update about paper billing! It read:

“AT&T free msg: We are simplifying your paper bill, removing itemized detail. To view all detail go to att.com/mywireless. Still need full paper bill? Call 611″

If you would like to start using e-billing, it’s extremely simple to change — it only took 3 seconds!

Just login to your AT&T account (create one if you don’t have one already) and click Sign up for Paperless Billing on your main account page.

After that, you’re good to go!

XTRAIN VIDEOS

If you haven’t heard of xtrain, they are an online video training website with classes ranging from graphic design, web design, digital arts, digital photography to even online marketing! Feel free to check out their site and download some free classes they currently have available.

You may remember when I was in Dallas and recording videos with them a few months ago. They are slowly starting to be released online.

We also shot a few man on the street interviews questioning people about their thoughts on technology. Those will also be online soon.

TWITTER SEARCH

Posted at 11:26 am | 10 comments

Twitter has now added a search feature (again)! If you were an early on twitter user, you might remember when this was possible from their site. If not, then I’m sure you’ve became quite familiar with 3rd party searches such as twittersearch by David Troy.

Search your friends, locations, and even URLs.

Not on twitter yet? Well, you better work on that first. Let’s be friends.

BACN

Posted at 11:26 am | 40 comments

Bacon without the o is bacn — but what exactly is it? Well, it’s the in between emails we receive that aren’t exactly important but aren’t spam. Get it? Got it.

Twitter follower emails, facebook adds, myspace friend requests etc could all be put into this category. We want to read them, we want to follow those who just added us, but don’t quite have the time to do it right this second. BACN it.

This new key term was coined this weekend at Podcamp at a discussion which I first heard of it from Jesse Hambley. Below is the video taken from the ijustine.tv archive (thus the poor quality) of Jesse and Tommy Vallier explaining exactly what this new meme is all about:

[ repost video? ]

BACN can now be used for excuses:

“Sorry, I didn’t call you back.. I was sorting out some bacn”
“A movie? Ahh, I kinda have a lot of bacn to deal with..”
“Oh, you were saying something? I was bacn’ing.”
“Must have missed your email in all the bacn.”
