Mmm… 8 gb isn’t a whole lot for some. As someone with a bit of dap (Digital Audio Player) and pmp (Portable Media Player) knowledge, I’d say that for every iPod, there is a better alternative. If your looking for a pmp (Portable Media Player), check out the Archos 605.

I’m with you about the iPod touch. I would definitely splurge the extra $$ for the iPhone.

What? No love for the new nano? I love that they’ve managed to squeeze in a screen that you can watch video on. And it may be squarish, but it looks awfully thin and light. I’d hold off on calling it fat until you touch one. With all due credit to “Crazy People”, I’d say it’s boxy, but good.

I love you, but…… your analysis on the Ipod Touch isn’t exactly great in regards to pricing. “toss in an extra $100 and just get an iPhone”

You kind of don’t mention that you have to activate the Iphone thereby spending at least an additional $1700 for two years of the cheapest cell phone service plan.

$300 for Ipod Touch or $2100+ for an Iphone. That’s probably an easy answer for the average person in america.

Ipod Touch is relatively cheap and affordable. Especially for people who already have a cell phone under contract. There’s also many people who wouldn’t need or use a data plan.

Shuffle- I like it! Inexpensive, extremely portable, cute, easy to take with you.

Nano- 2nd generation Nano ftw! I have the lime green, her name is “Patchouli”! Please don’t make her jealous. She has issues.

ipod classic- Cool, but I looove the ipod touch one so much better! Still though, there’s enough space on this classic to listen to music for several incarnations, reincarnations, and parallel universes!

ipod Touch*- come to mama! I really want this! It’s going on my Vision Board for sure!

iPhone- ok, well of course I’d get the iphone if it didnt mean I had to switch cell phone providers. I love Sprint, and don’t plan on budging for awhile. If I did, I’d have to pay almost 200 bucks cancellation fee IAT paying the iphone price. Not cool. I know one day (probably within a year or two), iPhone will be available for other carriers including hopefully Sprint. But until then, I am salivating for that iTouch!

And that’s my rebuttal. And btw.. I love your lifecast, videos and blog! You have a fantastic sense of humor!

I’ve heard rumors you can unlock the iPhone to use with other providers. Know if this is true?

Excellent blog post Justine. I can’t afford the hassle of switching to AT&T, but I like the iPhone the best still. How could you say the shuffle is dead to you?! It’s the only iPod I’ve ever owned, and it’s my pride and joy. So easy to just clip onto anything Hope you are well.

I think I will hold out for the possibility that the iPhone will be in Canada before next summer, rather than getting an iPod touch now.

Here in Canada it is a different situation - our plan rates through the various phone companies are very high at present, hence buying an iPhone is not an option even at the reduced cost. I really like the iPod Touch but the low storage capacty has me questioning that purchase. It is almost better to hang onto my 5th Gen iPod video and wait until Apple comes out with a revised iPod touch with more standard storage.

I’ll be in line to buy the ipod touch. That’s $300 for the next 2 years, instead of $400 plus $75 or more to at&t for every month for the next 2 years.

Once my Verizon contract is up in October I’m switching to Virgin Mobile. So, unless someone can show me how I can use the iPhone on the Sprint network, or at&t doesn’t charge me $50 for all 20 minutes I use per month, I say screw at&t and the iPhone.

The ipod touch is everything I was looking for in the next ipod: just like the iPhone, but minus the phone.

I got an iPhone because of the price drop. Coincidentally, my iPod and phone both broke within a 2 month period, so I got lucky. I had to get the leftover 4 GB version, and I think it is amazing.
