IPHONE RINGTONES

Posted at 12:40 am | 7 comments

Hoorraaaay for custom iPhone ringtones! This was one of the biggest complaints (other than not having copy and paste) that most people seemed to have from the very beginning. Granted, there have been applications such as iToner that I’ve heard work great for creating them — It still wasn’t the official Apple way. Also see gizmodo’s entry on 8 more ways to get ringtones on your iPhone.

I was so excited that I jumped right into downloading one of my favorite songs (Bon Jovi - Livin’ on a Prayer) expecting to turn it directly into a ringtone. I was extremely upset when I received this error message:

Only 500,000 songs can be used. At first that seemed like a lot, but in reality 95% (if not more) of my purchased songs aren’t even compatible. Huge disappointment. Just be sure you see the little next to your song before you get as excited as I did about having a Bon Jovi ringtone.

After finally finding a song that would work — the actual process of creating a ringtone is extremely simple. Right click on the song, choose create ringtone, drag the slider to the 30 second clip (or less) you wish to use, choose the gap between loops and click buy. Then just sync up your iPhone and you’ll have a new tasty ringtone.

Although, there isn’t a substitute for the default Marimba ringtone..

XTRAIN PHOTOSHOP WORLD 2

Another “hello” from Photoshop World xtrain booth. hi hi hi hi hi.

Sep 7

You [iPhone users] all got your letters and I hope you’re happy. I didn’t get one yesterday so I cried myself to sleep lastnight. I cried so much that Steve Jobs must have heard and personally sent me an email this morning.

Justine,

I wish you would quit complaining about not getting an email from me. I felt terrible. Here’s your store credits and a few extra. Do with it what you will, but please refrain from saying the iPod Shuffle is dead to you. We’ve already got some calls regarding your apparent dislike for our special friend.

xo,
Steve

Yeah, that’s right… Steve signs his emails xo. Now that I have my $100 store I’m heading back to Starbucks to buy all the songs that are playing while I wait in line for my draaaank.

NEW IPODS

Posted at 1:48 pm | 16 comments

Just in case you missed it — There’s some new iPods on the block and according to Apple, they are the best ones ever.

Haven’t had time to sit down and blog about the new release yet, so I’ll just keep this short and sweet for the time being.

iPod Shuffle: You’re dead to me.

iPod Nano: First generation nano FTW (for the win). This looks like a little fat nugget. Until I actually see this in person, I’m pleading the 5th.

iPod Classic: 160gigs is a lot of space but I’d sacrifice that for the beauty of a touch screen and wifi anyday.

iPod touch: If you plan to spend $299 on this bad boy iPod, you might as well toss in an extra $100 and just get an iPhone.

iPhone: Just buy this already. With the significant drop in price (now $399!) there isn’t any reason not to (other than switching to AT&T which isn’t a big deal). If you’re already in the market for an iPod, just do it and email me a photo from it :) Ya

** Update - For those of you who aren’t lucky enough to have the iPhone in your location, then I definitely suggest the iPod touch. It’s beautiful.

NINTENDO ETC

This past week we shot another episode for Reform Pittsburgh Now at ETC [The Entertainment Technology Center at Carnegie Mellon University offers a two-year Masters of Entertainment Technology degree]. This was by far one of the most amazing places I’ve visited recently ever and wasn’t even aware it was in Pittsburgh!

They had an entire hallway dedicated to the history of technology including important artifacts from each year (of course the Apple Lisa article on the wall was one of the first things that caught my attention)!

Let’s not forget Desiree’s favorite — The Etch A Sketch!
