THIS IS JUST A TRIBUTE

Posted at 10:40 am | 7 comments

This is just a tribute .. to the greatest facebook gift in the world.

I’m not sure what it is about this particular gift that I think is beautiful (despite the fact that I love treats). Perhaps it’s the elegant highlight on the icing. Maybe the reflection of the cupcake foil in the sunlight?

This is not the greatest blog entry in the world, no, no! This is just a tribute, oh, to the greatest facebook gift in the world.

I love facebook.. and the gifts even more. Happy Halloween!

I watch a lot of online video content and black20 is by far one of my favorites! Who are they and where did they come from? Well, long story short: While working at a major network, Neil Punsalan and J. Crowley pitched a broadband show concept to the President of their network. Shortly after, the show was bought and then it never saw the light of day.

Naturally, they gathered their team and did what anyone would do in a similar situation — Drive to Atlantic City and gamble your production budget on a single spin of roulette. They placed their bets on Black 20 and as luck would have it they won!

..and now, almost 10 months after I found out about this amazing website, I had the honor of being killed by Mike O’Gorman while Michael Torpey watches on net_work!

Be sure to also check out their other shows: Black20 News with Jessie Cantrell, The Middle Show with David Price, and amazing viral videos that you may have already seen floating around the internet.

LOVING LEOPARD

Posted at 10:29 pm | 39 comments

As you may already know, Leopard (the much anticipated release of Apple’s new operating system) was officially launched Friday the 26th. It wasn’t out of the ordinary to see lines wrap around several blocks of retail stores or even winding through the middle of your local mall. Completely normal.

I didn’t waste anytime getting my copy but I did wait until the next night to install it. Why? Well, for whatever reason I thought it might be best to get what work I needed to catch up on completed first. Turns out that was in my best interest.

Like most OS updates, it is always best to do a clean install. In the effort to save some time with reinstalling all of my software again, I chose just to upgrade. After the 2 - 3 hours installation, my excitement to use Leopard was building.

Leopard boots up shortly after the upgrade is complete and welcomes me with a beautiful introduction. Odd. No sound. Maybe Steve has to cut the video budget and add some engineers on dev to hit the 26th deadline. Hmm.. Oh, nope.. no sound anywhere! Ah, let’s resolve this issue with a restart (naturally).

Here’s a few clips of my frustration while lifecasting the installation:

I was greeted by the Setup Assistant, entered all of my information (again) and clicked done. I was quickly cycled back into the same screen I started with. Oh great — an endless Setup Assistant loop.

I tried a number of things, including booting into single user mode to turn it off and/or delete it! With no luck, I figured I’d back up the rest of my drive and just do a clean install. I used my Mac Mini and put my Macbook into target disk mode and did a complete backup to an external drive just in case.

Shortly after the backup was complete, I did an archive install and the next morning Leopard was waiting for me. <3 *heart*

Oh, by the way.. I want to be John from the Leopard Guided Tour when I grow up.

TWITTERING IN THE PARK

Posted at 12:45 pm | 15 comments

I’m early for a meeting and noticed this wonderful little park space nearby. I tend to take for granted how nice it is to just be outdoors and that there are other things in life besides technology.

Yes, I’m still on a computer but how else would I get this conversation started?

What are some things that you take for granted?

(and yes, I’m on a PC — it’s the computer that I stream live with)
