tasty blog snack

This is the problem with the “nirvana” of artists “doing it all themselves”. I was a victim of the “Crystal Ball” fiasco with Prince in 1998 where many people who pre-ordered on his website didn’t get anything . Then he made it available to casual fans through Best Buy while the hardcore fans who believed in him most were still waiting. As much as I hate the big label cartel, they still are the only ones with the pipeline to promote and distribute major releases. If a group of major artists leaving the majors together and pooling their resources like what happened in the comic book industry with Image Comics maybe that could change, but egos seem to have prevented that from happening so far.

So how’s the music?

Poor, iJ. I signed up when the news first hit the internet a week or two ago. (The site was a pain in the ass then, too. But I persisted…)

As they promised, I got the direct link to download in my Inbox this morning. It was painless. I was shocked, really.

Sorry you had such trouble. It really is a fantastic album…

I am half way through the CD and I am liking it so far. It is very reminiscent of Kid A.
As for the website, I didn’t personally have a problem an hour after the site launched.

Well, don’t get me wrong, but what is so very difficult about reading your favorite music magazine’s webpage (yes, there is more in the internet than just blogs), click on the link to http://www.inrainbows.com/ and - this is just amazing - paying as much as you like (!!!) for a legal download of ten fantastic songs.
I preordered it already a few days ago, without any website problems. On the mac.
Thouse of you who still suffer the unfathomable pain of the website, be persistent. It’s worth it.

Hi Justine, hope you’re liking the new Radiohead album as much as I am!! Luckily, I didn’t have a problem with pre-ordering and I received an email at about 11am BST with the link and it downloaded within 2 minutes of me clicking on the link!! I just wish they’d give some artwork to go with it as otherwise it’s going to look rubbish when I play it on my  tv or ipod touch :o(

My biggest issue buying the album was primarily the fact that the website moved at a snail’s pace during the pre-order last week. But, it eventually worked and I have the album and it’s awesome.

I haven’t gone to the website to get the music yet but when I saw this video yesterday I had to just laugh. Not sure if they wanted it to be a bit more tricky getting their music because it’s free or what, but that had to be frustrating. Glad you finally got it though.

So… how DO you but the album? I still can’t figure it out.

Took me a while as well, there’s a difference between 1) being artsy and 2) having a site that one can navigate easily.

I still love Radiohead though. Paid for their album download.

I must admit that I would like to hear Rainbows.

Yeah, their website was something. I had to turn off my ad-blocker in order to see their captcha security image. I’m sure the music will be worth it though!

Had no problem ordering up my free (”in rainbows)…[yeah, I did the pre-order last week, and paid: o.o.o. pounds. Woot-woot!]/

What I think the problem is:
So many are now running to the website. It’s slowing things down.
Hope you’re enjoying the CD.

I’ve paid plenty, through these many years,
and I’m sure I shall buy Radiohead’s CD’s in the future.

I never thought about that. I just googled it few days ago and purchased the Discbox without any extra steps. Guess Radiohead changed the re-directed link.
