I had the great pleasure of meeting Mark Mothersbaugh the day before his gallery opening in LA last week. His art and music has been very inspirational in the past few decades.
If you’d like to check out the gallery and happen to be in the LA area:
Scion Installation L. A.
3521 Helms Avenue (at National)
Culver City, CA. 90232

For those of you who may not be familiar with his work, he’s most recognized for his band Devo with the popular song ‘Whip It’ — You may or may not have heard it once or twice? I’m going to bet you have!
He’s also scored several Wes Anderson films: Bottle Rocket, Rushmore, The Royal Tenenbaums, and The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou!
..and my most favorite — he did the Rugrats theme and the ‘Get a Mac’ commercial song!! There’s so many more shows and games that I wasn’t aware of that he worked on. Can you say Even Stevens Movie? Sims 2 and Crash Bandicoot?
Is there a reason that these television shows continually use the iPhone the wrong way?! Here we have Two and a Half Men on CBS with this guy crusing in his ‘phat’ ride ‘pimping’ the iPhone in the wrong direction.
Please, can someone make this stop? If I wasn’t leaving LA tomorrow morning I’d personally go pay a visit to CBS and see if I could get this issue resolved. It’s a serious one and it’s not to be taken lightly.
If you, or someone you know (or don’t know) is caught using their iPhone the wrong way, please let me know.
Thanks to bmanreboot for pointing out this iPhone tragedy.
The other day I twittered and wondered what people would do for an iPhone. Well, let me tell you.. The ladies sure cleaned up with some amazingly hilarious responses! Good work, girls
Sorry guys.. perhaps you can try a little harder next time?
WHO: Online Video creators, producers, compressors and STARS WHAT: The Winnies Awards Where The Winner is YOU WHERE: Cinespace, 6356 Hollywood Blvd, Los Angeles, California WHEN: November 30, 2007 WHY: Because you want to party and you want a trophy! HOW: Instructional Video coming shortly
Remember the vloggies from last year? Well, this year it’s the winnies! If you’re a vlogger or video interneter (no, I don’t think that’s really a word), then this is an event you’re not going to want to miss.
Hey hey hey! Look what Viddler is up to! They just announced a new way to monetize your video. Yes, monetize. I said it — Even though I’m not a huge fan of that word.
One of the downsides to partnering with video sharing sites that automatically pair your video with whatever advertiser in their database. Some sites will at least be kind enough to let you choose a category of what’s being placed on your videos. That’s all well and good, especially if you’re making a few dollars $$ but the best thing about viddler’s new system is YOU choose what’s being advertised!
Their model is based off of items that you tag in your video. See the above video for a quick demo.
Remember, this is also completely optional. If you don’t wish to have ads or comments in the timeline, you can always turn it off.
There was a point that I thought Fake Steve hated me. Not just little hate.. BIG hate. I’d cry myself to sleep and wake up the next morning still in tears unable to handle the truth.
Let’s see.. he’s claimed I’m a stalker, ditzy, have the mentality of a thirteen-year-old girl roaming around the mall.. shall I continue? Probably not because I’ll just start crying again.
..actually, I never cried. I thought it was all quite humorous and was extremely excited to meet the real Fake Steve (aka Daniel Lyons) at a Q&A session with Guy Kawasaki in Mountain View!
This had to have been by far one of the best days ever considering not only did I meet the Fake Steve, but I sawReal Steve at the Apple Campus!
Yep, quite exciting.
Continuing on — I’ve started reading Daniel Lyons new book, oPtions and it’s pretty much hilarious. It’s a great parody of the stereotypical traits that you read about Steve Jobs in most other biography books and press. I’d definitely recommend this book if you’re a fan of the Fake Steve blog. It’s written with the same witty style, just formatted with more of a plot. If you pick it up, let me know what you think!
Forget you Oprah, I’m starting an iJustine Steve Jobs book club!!
I’m probably the last gmail account on the block to have IMAP enabled. As many have assured me “It’s there Justine.. Go look!” — No, it wasn’t there and yes I can read. My original account from 04 was one of the first to be activated, but pretty sure that wasn’t useful at all.
I’ve finally set up my iPhone with IMAP and it’s definitely changed my life. If you haven’t yet set up your iPhone (or other devices) with gmail’s IMAP and need assistance, be sure to click here.
Also as a side note — Have you noticed the the ‘newer version’ vs ‘older version’ option that recently became available? In the ‘newer version’ gTalk will finally work in Safari. Again, it seems I’m the last one in line for the cool club..
No, Steve didn’t start the fire (neither did Billy).
No worries — Apple quickly replaced my above Macbook Pro powercord without any questions. I didn’t figure there would be any since this little guy could have been the start of a much larger issue if it wasn’t caught in time!
A few days prior I noticed that for some reason the power would drop momentarily from my Macbook. Not really thinking much of it, I ignored it until yesterday when I smelled melting plastic!!
