T-Mobile vs Twitter

It’s been reported [here, here, here, and here] that T-Mobile is now blocking Twitter. Guess T-Mobile can’t hang with the big kids anymore.

..and no, the LOLCATS / icanhascheezburger meme will never get old with me.

The above graphical representation directly correlates my feelings on this issue. Stay tuned for more, or just get an iPhone.. or a direct rip-off of one.

I signed up for Twitter, just because of this. I have AT&T and an iPhone though. =)

tisk tisk you need to stop with the sneaky iphone plugs justine! its just a phone. and not even a very good one. i’d like to see you try and copypasta, use flash, use an sd card, remove the battery, or made a video with it. Yup you got owned!

It has been confirmed on Twitter’s blog that the service has been restored which is great news; I was just about to break my foot off in someone’s ass.

Wow, I didnt know this. I have t-mobile. . and I would try to text to twitter and it would always say ’service not avaliable’….. now I understand.

Just an FYI - Twitter just release this on their blog:

We’ve been tracking a missed connection between T-Mobile and Twitter for the past few days. If you’re a T-Mobile customer using Twitter in the United States over our shortcode 40404, you may see intermittent failures (both with sending and receiving updates). We’re working to resolve this issue as quickly as possible. Thank you for your patience!

Update (12/15 3p): We’re still working on this and believe it to be a technical issue happening between T-Mobile and the folks who help run our text messaging. At this time we do not believe it to be a policy issue (as has been speculated). We’re hoping for a resolution soon and will let you know when we know more.

Update (12/15 4:30p): We’ve received word this issue has been resolved. We’ll continue to watch closely and let you know if anything changes.

Thankfully, this issue has been resolved. In the end it turns out that it was a technical issue but it was T-Mobile that created the PR nightmare for themselves. I posted the email I received from T-Mobile on my blog and dozens of others confirmed they received the same thing on the twitter satisfaction thread. It’s amazing that the executive office sent out such a harsh (somewhat threatening) email to so many customers. It wasn’t like this was just a clueless CSR.

Either way, I’m happy to be Twittering from T-Mobile again and I’m anxious to see how T-Mobile handles their mistake.
