BLOGGER.. GRR!

Blogger really does anger me. I'm not going to lie and I can no longer hold it in. I thought I'd be really cool and host it myself.. but, obviously that wasn't in my best interest. It takes 3 years to republish and I've only been at this a month.

So, here I sit. Frustrated and wanting to punch Google with my fist of fury. I don't want to host it on their servers. Perhaps Wordpress is in order. Hmmmmm...

LUNCH

Lunch time!

Ahhh so Desiree and I had our first photoshoot for mommypackmylunch.com. We've decided to stick with the name and make it work! So, obviously.. here is our first step. The next step will be actually redoing our site to be somewhat functionable!

I'll be posting a few more photos from the shoot at a some point this week.

Few things we discussed:

- xTrain: Online video training
- Cinemanix: Motion capture studio in Pittsburgh
- Mac UK ads
- The 90s and flannel
- Meebo: Web-based chatting
- Guest Brian from Alive in Baghdad and Alive in Mexico
- .. and more!

XTRAIN

IMG_0088.jpg

I'm now hosting Nightline on ABC since my few second debut..

HA HA HA just kidding.

..but, this Thursday and Friday I did spend in Dallas, Texas filming a show for xTrain called 60 Second Guru.

Now, normally the show would be a tutorial teaching you something in 60 seconds. The topics that I chose were Online Video Editing, MySpace Popularity, Blogging Tips, and Creating Viral Videos. Basically these were shot in the style of videos that most people are used to seeing that Dez and I would typically create. This includes: running around the street doing parkour, dancing on the desk, mock myspace mirror shots, and even falling in random places.

The studio that we shot at was amazing! It's called Splash Media. Here's a video directly from YouTube about xTrain and Splash Media about their partnership:

Splash Media operates one of the most technologically advanced television studios in the world. We combine the best systems available with solid engineering and top-notch graphics. Since its launch in 2005, TSTN has received international acclaim for its content as well as its look, but the most common question asked by visitors is, “Where’s the studio?” TSTN programs are produced by only five or six people in the control room. Even more astounding is the number of crew on the floor in the studio: zero. Computer-guided cameras are all controlled by one person. The studio is a bluescreen room, and virtual reality sets are keyed into the final video feed. Camera moves are monitored by the virtual reality servers, where minute adjustments to the set give the studio depth. The final effect is flawless.

Splash Media reinvents television technology

Moving right along with my media from the filming.. On the topic of "Creating Viral Videos", I mentioned that the "quickest and most painless way to create a viral video, is to make a video blog". Thus, here is my mockery of a typical video post you'd find on YouTube:

Last but not least, here's my version of the SplashMedia tour.

(Most of this footage was filmed 5 minutes before I ran out of the studio to catch my flight)

POWERLESS

Ah, here I am sitting by this wonderful power outlet in the Airport waiting for my flight to Dallas. This is the ONLY one in the near vicinity of my boarding gate. I searched under sandwiches, people and small children to find this wonderful treat to plug my Macbook Pro into.

Now, I'm sure if you are reading this, you'll also notice that there is nothing plugged into it.

Why not?

I'll give you one guess....

TAP DANCING

Cover Image

The Art of Tap Dancing includes a set of heel and toe taps with screws to convert your shoes into practice taps, and a 32-page book that provides the history and how-to of this lively and rhythmic art form.

Barnes & Noble.com - Books: The Art of Tap Dancing Mini Kit, by Jennifer Leczkowski, Other Format, Mini Kit

This is seriously so funny.  Neal and I were at Barnes and Noble Bookstore yesterday at work (getting some coffee) and I saw this little box on the self.  It is a kit to convert your shoes into tapshoes.  Honestly.. this is exactly what I need to live my life to the fullest extent.

Man, I have so many ideas for these..

BYE BYE COPPER TREO

Haha, saw this post on Engadget and had to laugh at their wonderful description on the color of the discontinued Treo:
"..the 680 in Copper (i.e. the creamy-pukey-orange Treo) is "no longer available" according to Palm's site."

Copper Treo 680, we hardly -- no, we never knew ye - Engadget

In other news, I'm 100% in love with the Flock browser. I'd like to proudly admit that here and now to everyone. It's just a bit faster than Firefox but is still Mozilla based. It integreates with most popular blogging websites and photosharing sites.

You can also drag and drop photos and links directly on to Myspace comments or drop them into a dock-like snippet station and save them for later.

It also has a built-in blog window that allows you to drag and drop anything content from the web directly into your blog entry.

Oh do I have some tasty treats right out of the amazing Jumpcut editor. I'm beginning to think every other word I type is Jumpcut. Perhaps some therapy is in order (new video concept?).

Anyways, let's move on with the videos, shall we?

GO BURGH INTERVIEW

IMG_1687.jpg IMG_1697.jpg

Today was quite eventful and should allow for a few multimedia blog updates the next few days.

Beaver County Times [ timesonline.com ] and Go Magazine [ goburgh.com ] did an interview with me today about the various things I've been up to (our videos, the internet, Yahoo Talent Show, Macworld, etc).

After all was said and done, they mentioned that one of their favorite videos was the Parkour sketch Desiree and I did. I quickly called her up to join us and we taught them our version of Parkour.

Look for the Beaver Times parkour instruction / interview video tomorrow.

Check out our friends in Renzhe Parkour that we met via the Yahoo Talent Show if you want to see some real skills!

Last but not least, the iPhone video is currently featured on Yahoo Video:

Thanks to Jumpcut for being so magical :P

MACWORLD PHOTOS

Tonight was a post-podcamp meetup. It's really great to see what random projects everyone has been working on. If you don't know what Podcamp is, perhaps a Google search is in order?

Finally I flickr'ed some pictures from Macworld:

[ View them all here ]

So, they are basically just a lot of me, everyone from Jumpcut and the iPhone haha. I definitely took more video than photos. That seems to be a trend.

INTERNET ADDICT

HELP!

Blogging and the internet has officially taken over my life. I try to mirror posts on all of the various other websites I'm a member of, but it definitely has taken more time than I'd like to dedicate to such things.

So, how do you spend less time blogging but still manage to post to all of your favorite online communities? Hmm, as soon as I figure out the best method, I'll let you know. This has been dubbed: Project Blog.Snack

The first for the GROOVR video series is complete. Take a look at it here:

[ Join the site here ]

Also great news, Desiree has finally purchased her first domain. Sometimes I wonder how we've managed to be friends for the past 4 years and she's yet to purchase one.

Look like another day without the Macworld photos. Maybe tomorrow!

GROOVR.MOV

Today we shot a quick video for Groovr.  The idea for this is an extremely mini-series/promo set of videos that will involve a handful other people in Pittsburgh.  Whatever you do, I want to film it and incorporate it into this set.  Videos will be from 30 seconds to a minute and a half depending upon what you'll be doing.

If you've been living under a rock or never read a blog entry of mine about Groovr, it's a new text-message-based networking site that allows you to "check-in" to locations that is then published online.  After that, your friends will be able to see what you're doing via the web or text message update.  Check it out for yourself:  http://www.groovr.com

Look for that video tomorrow as well as photos from Macworld (finally).

STARBUCKS

Aw.. Starbucks wrote my name on my cup. So cute....? (mobile update by my now outdated and really uncool Treo)

I LOVE JUMPCUT

First things first.. Ben gave me my first Google shirt. Thank you! Mark this day in history.

Secondly, I just got back to my hotel room with all intentions of heading to bed. First the various email/social networks needed checking and then to Jumpcut to see if there are any new videos. Well, Weibel has been creating some great candid CES shorts for the past week, and I just noticed there was a parkour CES spoof!

Now, you may or may not have seen the spoof video Desiree and I created about about our friends who actually do parkour. Just in case you missed it, you can view our video right here:

Alright NOW check out the CES spoof version live from Vegas compliments of Weibel:

That was amazing. You guys are great.

[ "What is all this parkour nonsense you've been talking about?"

Well, to keep it short and sweet, parkour is running, jumping, climbing and other complex techniques inspired by human movement over, under, around and through obstacles in one's environment. The goal of parkour is to adapt one's movement to any given obstacle in one's path. ]

Enough about parkour, you say.. more about MACWORLD! That will all be coming up in the next few days. To get your Mac fix that was not fed in this post, feel free to visit MacBreak on twit.tv for some amazing coverage by some amazing people including Leo Laporte, Merlin Mann, Scott Bourne, Alex Lindsay, John Foster, and Kendra Arimoto and I.

Tomorrow is the very last day of Macworld. I'll be checking in one last time before my flight to see if there is anything that I may have missed. After that, it's back to the east coast. Tragic.

SILLY CISCO

iphone steve jobs

Big deal.
Just change the name Steve.

For all I care, call it the PoopSnack Mobile by Apple Computer, Inc.

My only real complaint is Cingular only.. Granted, my ABC quote said otherwise, I'd really love to be able to choose my own service provider. Having Sprint and Verizon already, I'm not exactly too keen on adding on a third.

I've heard and read a million different possibilities/rumors as far as when the iPhone (or, as I'll now refer to it, the PoopSnack Mobile by Apple Computer, Inc) is open to other providers.

The price point I feel is pretty fair. The Treo 700p originally retailed at $619!!!!! As I said previously, the iPhone is currently priced at $599 for the 8GB model and $499 for the 4GB model. That's all well and good, but what about a new user agreement? With a 2 year plan, the Treo 700p's price was significantly knocked down to $399.

Come on Steve.. You're already forcing Cingular upon us! Perhaps you could at least pay for our early termination fees? Just a thought, my friend.. Just a thought.

YOUTUBE NIGHTLINE

Ah, here's the infamous video from ABC's Nightline. Karen and I are at 1:10 and 4:30. It's a really great news clip about the iPhone. Watch it all!

After you're done with that, there is a tasty treat over at MPML also. I put up two new videos :

iPhone

I have so much to blog about, and no time to do so. I've hardly had time to even take pictures. I'll catch you all up as soon as possible.

ABC? NIGHTLINE? GOOD MORNING AMERICA?

Agh, so apparently Karen and I were interviewed by ABC during the Macworld Expo yesterday and it's been aired on Nightline and Good Morning America. Well, as you know if I'm in joke mode, good luck with getting me to say anything serious. I guess I missed the part where the woman said she was from ABC, so I continued to answer any question as I would normally.

ABC: "So, how long have you been a Mac user?"
Justine: "Ah, actually the day that I came out of my mom was it. I even have an Apple shaped birthmark.."

Yeah, I told ABC I've been Mac user since the day I came out of my mom. I really don't even remember what I said, so I hope that was the extent of it. Ooops.

It makes me nervous that they found something to use.. WE'LL FIX IT IN POST!

Also, I have two really short videos coming. I'll post them here and on Mommy Pack My Lunch. The one is on the iPhone!

Coming in at $599 for the 8GB model and $499 for the 4GB model.

Stay tuned for more..

MACWORLD AND JUMPCUT

Going backwards through my day, since I like to post photos first.. I had dinner with Karen, Ashot, and Steve from Jumpcut tonight. They are just as awesome as their videos (and that's pretty awesome).

Today has been pretty crazy busy. Since I didn't sleep at all last night, my morning was pretty much a blur. While at the Pittsburgh Airport, I got some breakfast and a huge coffee that I so desperately needed. After finishing my breakfast and poking around at the internet on my phone, I accidentally knocked over the entire coffee right into my lap. Brilliant. I spent the next 45 minutes trying to find somewhere that sold some stain remover and almost missed my flight.

I slept the entire trip to Vegas. I don't even remember the takeoff. I believe I fell asleep before that even happened. Falling asleep makes it sound so peaceful. Passing out or near death nap is more like it.

Tomorrow I'll be at Macworld hunting down some great Mac accessories to review for MacBreak. Mmm tasty accessories.

GROOVER, COFFEE AND VEGAS

Ah, waiting to board my flight to SF in Vegas. I did manage to sleep the entire way here which wasn't that great.. I had an aisle seat, but somehow made do. Coffee helped and now I'm ready for nap #2.

I was pretty excited to check into the Pittsburgh Airport via Groovr this morning to find out someone already had been there! Go, Groovr go.

Time to go. Bye!

SLEEPY

It's 7a and I haven't slept yet. I made it back from NY to my house around 5p yesterday and up until now I've been trying to catch up on the last week or so. I still hadn't completly unpacked from the last trip to New York and that was in the middle of December.

Now I'm just tired and need some coffee.

My flight is at 10:50a. My thoughts were that I'd be able to sleep on the flight there so let's hope that holds true.

Time to finish packing and awake Desiree to take me to the airport.

MACWORLD

I'll be heading to San Francisco tomorrow morning for Macworld 2007. I'm pretty sure if you know me at all, you'll know just how excited I am to be able to attend this year. Steve Jobs?

I believe since I was born, I've been using a Mac. My first was an Apple Lisa. It's almost as though she is a long lost sister of mine.

Anyways, I'd love to ramble on about my life as a Mac user, but alas.. it's 4am (I've backdated so it looks as though I did indeed update on the 7th) and I've yet to actually finish packing. I'll save my Mac flashbacks for another day.

THINGS TO CHECK OUT:
• 2006 Montage created using Jumpcut is on Mommy Pack My Lunch.
• Tons of Groovr updates from my trip. Join the site to follow my travels.
• Add the Mommy Pack My Lunch Myspace comedy site here.

** As a reminder, photo updates will be on Tasty Blog Snack and Vox throughout the next few days!

MAC WORLD AND NY

Still in New York and I only get cell reception randomly throughout the ski lodge. There's a small section of the kitchen table that I'll actually be able to send photos without an error. Its so warm here that skiing was never even an option. Its basically 60 degrees and raining. Mud fest dot com.

We're coming back Sunday and then Monday I'll be flying out to San Fran to attend Mac World. I've wanted to go since I came out of my mom, so this is pretty exciting.

In other news, I was really worried that I lost my wallet but Desiree informed me that it was in a dark corner under a pile of clothes in my room. That would have caused some issues at the airport. Considering I think that I also lost my birth certificate.. lol

Ah, oh well... I'm going to bed!

LEAVING

I'm going to NY to ski (aka, hang out because I can't ski and there isnt any snow) until Sunday! The bad news is, I forgot my Macbook powercord. Seriously. I'm crying right now.

Anyways, I will be mobile blogging via Vox : http://ijustine.vox.com

I'll also be attempting to update at Tasty Blog Snack as well, but seeing as how I just reset that up, I haven't checked to see if my mobile settings are correct.

Last but not least, if you're on Groovr I'll also be updating there the most! If you're not on Groovr, then what are you waiting for?

2006 YAHOO TALENT SHOW

Here's an article that was posted in a Carnegie newspaper about the Yahoo Talent Show.

"Under the screen name "ijustine," the Carnegie resident entered numerous fun and interesting video snippets including juggling a stranger's cell phone outside of Wal-Mart, waiting all night (as 11th in line) to purchase a Play Station 3 (also at Wal-Mart), and arguing with a co-worker about stealing her stylus."

GROOVY GROOVERTIN

I'm going to be creating several promo videos for this new text message based Myspace kinda site. It's called Groovr.

Basically, you can "check in" to different locations via your phone and it will be updated on the website. Your friends can also see where you're at, check out the photos posted in that location, and join you there by doing the same!

Anyways, just go here, sign up, and take the tour to see how it works.

After that, I'm looking for people in Pittsburgh that have some sort of unique talent or job that I could film you "checking in" using the website. For example, a band member "checking in" on stage, resturant cook/host/hostess, student, etc. Anything! What do you do that might be interesting?

Let me know! Sign up here! If you have any questions, just ask me.

I'll have an example promo video up shortly of my version in the next week to show you what I'm looking for.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Happy New Year! Resolutions?! Mine is to update a blog every single day for the next year. Can I do it? Yes.. I can. For the first week or so I will focus on LJ and Vox since they are easiest to update. After that, I'll be switching and hosting one of my own again (you know, like tastyblogsnack.com?). I'll also continue to mirror posts and it will be RSS'd on Facebook.

My goal is to at least do a text update a day, if not a photo or video one. Guess we'll see how it goes.

New Years Eve was great. A bunch of us went to Town Tavern for the night. Tasty snacks and delectable drinkies. I haven't had this much fun on New Years ever! Thanks to all that made it great.

I'm not doing a year end photo wrap up like I did last year because I really am kinda lazy.. BUT, I did create a Jumpcut video with clips from all of our videos this past year! Oh how fun.
