Oh look.. MySpace karaoke! I was all pumped up this morning to sing my favorite tunes until I tried to install the ksolo record software.

Sorry! Not compatible with Mac yet..

YET!!!

I found a post on gigaom that dates back to July 2006 where there is a mention of ksolo. A commenter said they weren’t able to use it because it wasn’t Mac compatible.

You guys seriously haven’t got around to a Mac version in 2 years? Have you been too busy typing up song lyrics?

Shame.

Does anyone really care?

** UPDATE: Got an email from Daniel who sent me a link from techcrunch in July 2006 that states Fox actually acquired ksolo.

“Fox Interactive Media’s acquisitions of Newroo and kSolo demonstrate our commitment to empowering users with interesting tools that they can use to further enhance their online experience and online identity,” said Ross Levinsohn, President of Fox Interactive Media.

Honestly.. I’m extremely entertained by this. Can someone please tell me what they have been doing for the past two years? Obliviously not developing this platform for the masses.

This is lame….. I’ve been a mac user for almost two years and I’m getting really tired of this exclusivity crap with specific applications working only on Windows. I just bought a digital voice recorder so i could record my lectures in college and I have to run bootcamp just to get the audio files off the device because the app they give you must run on XP or Vista…

I’m glad you posted this during a spyware/virus/defrag session with my laptop. I’ll be sure to look for extra karaoke virus protection. I would have to agree that of the advantages to owning both, this isn’t really one of them.

Maybe I’m being an elitist but I have Vista Ultimate, XP Pro and Server 2008 installed on my MacBook Pro along with Ubuntu just in case I need to do something like karaoke.

That’s fine, I wasn’t planning on singing for myspace. There are people who make music for a living, I’m fine with leaving it to them to make my page sound better.

MySpace should have used a platform neutral way to deliver the content. (i.e. a java app or Google’s new thing for MySpace that is like Facebook apps).

Somehow feed some karaoke lyrics in to CamTwist and you’ll be own your way to pwning Tom, Fox, and all the mySpace n00bs.

Myspace has a bad track record on the tech end of things, from poor design to security vulnerabilities. It’s no surprise they left out the poor macs. It is still in beta though, so cross your fingers.

Hey guys, check this out. I’m installing it right now so I can’t vouch for it yet, but the description I found on softpedia says that it’s developed by the guys at ksolo to allow you to use Firefox on the Mac and use the ksolo software.

I’ve tried KarClient and if you can figure out how to use it more power to you and please feel free to come back here and tell us how because I can’t for the life of me figure it out. I was psyched to hear about karaoke on myspace because I do karaoke on the weekends, in a bar, but I never get real feedback as most of the people are my friends. So please, MySpace, get with it (and read my very angry e-mail about not liking MAC users).

Lol I’m a bit late on this because I just found out myspace had a karaoke thing today And I’m going to feel silly doing this but I’ll probably have to install windows on my mac just for crap that only uses windows.

I just found this post as I was searching for the reason why I couldn’t get ksolo to work on my macbook. Now I’m super pissed off. I don’t understand the discrimination against macs! I was at a party last night and they were trying to sell some software that isn’t mac compatible…you have to have an emulator and be able to run windows on your mac to use it. Well, I can run windows and use an emulator if I have to, but I have a mac because I don’t want to run windows!

This world is so backwards sometimes.

Good job, Justine. MySpace does, indeed suck. Is Tom employed by MS? Karaoke notwithstanding, where are the Mac compatible applications to allow funning-up one’s myspace page? Bill Gates is a wimp: The richest man in the world is afraid to play in an open market. Speaking to the PC masses [who stay satisfied with an inferior product], what does that tell you?

I’m really irritated. I just spent an hour taking the time to see why Ksolo wasn’t downloading. Maybe because I have a Mac. Exactly because I have a Mac. I would assume since Mac is one of the highest ranked computers that they would have applications fit for the computer.
