Intel Insiders

Posted at 1:42 am | 16 comments

First things first.. I bought those Junior Mints at Intel.

Continuing on.. Today I spent the day at Intel in Santa Clara. There’s a great group of people who have been selected as “Intel Insiders” and we met up today to discuss what the project is all about.

Basically, it’s bringing more awareness to what’s going on at Intel and giving us first hand look at what they’re up to. We’ll also be able to test out new products and that’s pretty exciting!

We had a lot of great discussions on brand awareness and how new media is playing a huge part with Intel. It was really interesting to hear so many different views on where things are going in this wonderful little online space that’s developing so quickly.

I probably should just edit together a video from the tour of the Intel Museum, but here’s an uncut version that I streamed live from QIK, if you’re interested in checking that out. It’s not the best video in the world, mostly because I was also filming on my Flip at the same time.

Last night while at Solstice (which is an amazing place for treats) everyone was calmly eating when flashing lights started to flood the restaurant. No one paid much attention until the cops jumped out of their cars with guns drawn. There were about 7 cop cars surrounding a car and the guy was forced out of his car at gunpoint while a woman sat in the passenger seat.

Now, at this point no one really had any idea what was going on because people were yelling “GET ON THE FLOOR!!!” As instructed, most of us did just that while I dug around for my camera.

..and at that point, you can watch the above video for the rest of what happened. It actually doesn’t seem as bad just watching the video, but being in a situation where you have no control.. and no idea what’s going on is pretty scary. Especially with the chance of getting shot! Ah!

Apparently the end result was that the cops “had the wrong guy”. *shrug*

While getting my face photoshopped onto The Rock.. They also had a blue screen music video composite right next door. I couldn’t resist..

Get Smart Premiere

Posted at 1:18 am | 27 comments

This past week I went to Vegas with I Got Shot Gun and Cadillac to cover the premiere of “Get Smart” at the Cinevegas Film Festival.

This was probably the most fun I’ve had covering an event.. not to say I don’t enjoy covering the tech conferences, but this was something a little different!

Our first night in town we went to the Palms Hotel and Resort for a charity pool party. Now, our first thought was “Oh, so there will be swimming..right?” No.. Definitely not. Good thing we used our better judgment and wore normal clothing. Oops!

The next day was the big premier at Planet Hollywood of “Get Smart”. Michael (my wonderful producer) thought it’d be best to get there early (and by early I mean at least 5+ hours). We got to the event just as they started setting things up for the red carpet.

Good thing, because this gave us plenty of time to roam around the mall which lead us to an amazing discovery: A Photo Magic Booth!

I thought it’d be funny to get my face on Dwayne Johnson’s (The rock) face and see if he’d sign it. Well, what do you know — I managed to make it happen and even slip him an autographed wallet size photo.

Previous to talking to him on the red carpet, his publicist told me “We don’t have time for autographs.. especially old wrestling photos.” I cringed and decided to explain the situation to her. She agreed it was quite funny and that he’d probably go for it.

Finally, after all the fun and adventures around Planet Hollywood, it was time for the red carpet event. Again.. I’ve never covered this type of an event so I didn’t really know what to expect. I figured we’d probably be able to wing it with no problem. We looked to the right of our assigned spot and see Inside Edition and Access Hollywood. Psshh, they’ve got nothing out our photoshopped photo!

I only had a minute with Dwayne but we did get into a small discussion about the iPhone after he mentioned his favorite tech gadget was his Blackberry. It didn’t make the final edit, probably because I spent most of the time trying to convince him he should reconsider now that the 3G version will support the Microsoft Exchange Server!

All in all, this was a great weekend. I also streamed some live video from qik so feel free to head over there and check out some unedited goodness from the weekend.

Thanks again to IGSG for the great event!

Oreo

Posted at 9:49 pm | 26 comments

Apparently the only thing I have to blog these past few days solicitation of votes! Haha! I haven’t entered a contest in a long time and the judging by the Spore votes.. there is no way anyone will be able to beat Cole and Dylan (apparently they are quite popular with the kiddies).

Can someone tell Disney to give me a kids show, please? Ah!

Anyways, if you have a few spare seconds, head on over to the Oreo YouTube Channel — click the NEXT VIDEO until you see my user name (iJustine) and then click the thumbs up vote.

Thanks to Anthony (aka, Skippy) for helping out with this creation!

Spore

Posted at 6:26 pm | 37 comments

Above is my creature “Pwnie” (you know, like Pwn?) that I created.

I’ve been talking about Spore for the past few weeks and there were very few people who hadn’t heard of it yet. Mostly because this is one of the more anticipated games that has been in development for the past few years by The Sims designer Will Wright.

The basis of the game is modeled around developing a species from single cell organism to a complex creature. There are several phases in the game in which you develop intelligence and interact with others. It feels like a cross between interaction of The Sims, object creation in Second Life and a bit of World of Warcraft on the side.

Right now there a contest going on with Celebrity Spore (Sporelebrity!) characters. The winner receives $15,000 to donate to their selected charity.

I chose The Frozen Pea Fund so head over to sporevote.com, click on my face, and then click the I LIKE IT and rate it on YouTube! That’s it!

Another thing that I thought was pretty funny is that the mainstream Celebrities are lacking the votes and views that the online personalties are getting (Ze Frank looks to be winning so far). I must say that I do enjoy being on the same page as Joey Fatone and Stan Lee. Oh, and Mandy Moore is pretty cute too. :)

The full game will be released on September 5th for $49.95. The Creature Creator version is available RIGHT NOW. So, get over there and download a copy and show me your creatures! Feel free to link them in the comments and let me know what your thoughts are on the game so far.

Friday was spent at PixelCorps (home of Macbreak and other amazingly awesome fun podcasts) where we had a great green screen dance party.

This lipdub contains an amazingly awesome cast of characters: Joe (who’s not on twitter), Lane, Sam, Dr. Kiki, Lisa and Faruk.

Much fun!

The Circuit

I have a new favorite web show! It’s called The Circuit and I was lucky enough to be on this week’s episode (interview above) with Alex Lindsay!

Yes, the Howard Stern Bowling girls are on also on this episode of which you can watch below. I should challenge them to a game off Wii. Not gonna lie, I’m pretty good. Pwn!
