Why I’m not at the iPhone Launch

Okay, okay okay.. I mean, being at the beach is an OKAY excuse — right?
My plans of attending the iPhone launch today didn’t happen. The nearest Apple Stores were at least 3+ hours away and with incoming and outgoing beach traffic, my travel time would have probably doubled both ways. Not to mention, my family rented a huge 12 passenger van and I would have been way too tempted to fill it up with iPhones (plus, that thing is not fun to drive).
The next time my parents decided to plan a vacation, I’ll have to make sure it’s not during the launch of a major Apple product.

The AT&T store that I originally sought out to visit while I’m on vacation ended up not actually being a store. Fail #2.
Either way, I have a 3G iPhone that should be arriving sometime today at the beach house. With that in mind, I’d much rather spend time with my family while I can since I’m never around much. There is a little more to life than gadgets

So.. with the above excuses, here I sit attempting to access the iTunes Store every 10 seconds with my old iPhone in hopes of reactivating. Seems as though the store has been quite lagged that past 5 hours.
If you need your iPhone fix — go watch Leo Laporte’s 24 hour iPhone broadcast. He’s got it all covered!
