Don’t get me wrong, I love Facebook (loved?).. but it just DOESN’T WORK properly. Maybe it’s because I have too many friends.. but don’t worry. I haven’t even been able to access my friend request page in the past few months. You know, Facebook doesn’t want you to have more than 5,000 of those so let’s just !@#$ up the approval option for you!

I can’t even tell you the last time I’ve actually been able to log into my friend requests page to even view the list. Oh you want to do that? Too bad! Here’s a little error to tide you over until the next time you try to use me.

The mobile iPhone website used to be a lot better than the actual website. You can now only view one single page of requests on the mobile site. Seems as though they’ve ditched that version to work on their really less than amazing iPhone application. Let’s not even go there..

At least the quick load time makes up for their massive amounts of error screens. Oh wait.. sometimes it doesn’t even load. Most of the time I can’t even get to the login screen without seeing an error. Is it just me? Hmm? Or is Facebook trying to sabotage my social networking experience?!!

Waaa Waaaa waaaaaa.

Nice new layout, though.. *ahem*

End rant. I’m going to go check my MySpace page now.

It’s really tedious, but go through the Facebook and find all the people you don’t know and delete them. I just did that with about 150 people and I am only at letter D. It’s a shitty move, but it makes friends events work and all the other database hogs.

I hope to get below 2500 friends soon :\

I just love that when I contacted their support, to tell them that I couldn’t add one of my friends to my mobile updates. The response was that they are aware of the problem, and that they hope to fix it sometime I. The future… LAAAAME!!!

you are using the “new.facebook.com” access page, so it’s quite normal… this new layout is in beta and it’s written “most of the pages won’t work at the moment with the new facebook” on the first page of facebook. If you go back on the old-but-not-beta version, it’s working perfectly.

Nope.. i’m using the old FB. Even before they rolled out the new launch I still had tons of errors. It’s hopeless

Who cares about facebook? I signed up for one….and I thought it sucked! I don’t like the layouts. They’re not as personalized as you can make myspace. As well as a bunch of other suck things I didn’t like either. Boo! I’ll stick with myspace. Thanks. At least myspace WORKS!

That’s weird. The only social networking site I ever have trouble with is Twitter. Maybe it’s because I only have like 200 friends?

No matter what you say, Facebook isn’t nearly as buggy as MySpace. I can’t believe not only how poorly engineered MySpace is, but how little improvement there has been over the years. So many fundamental, dumb bugs. But I guess their success demonstrates that they don’t *need* to fix the bugs…

Facebook would be a lot better if they went and cleaned their code out. Maybe some more powerful servers. I doubt this will happen tho. They seem to be headed in M$ direction and there’s no stopping it.

Nothing more frustrating than networking with 2.0 companies on facebook, and you continuously receive errors when trying to read your messages. Theres almost no point. I might as well start giving out my phone number in a better chance for people to contact me and get a response in a timely manner.

facebook has been giving me error messages all day! i’m getting pissed! i’ve had to resort to the mobile facebook on my Instinct just to stay updated on my freinds (*putting out creepy stalkerish vibe*)

Hey guys, I just wanted to buzz in quickly because I need to address what you all have been saying. From my experience, social networks work differently for different people. Personally, I can’t stand Twitter because I have maybe like 3 In Real Life friends there, and Myspace sucks because of its, well, bad design though it’s much better now. *All* of my friends are on Facebook. Things may be different for you all though.

For me, Facebook has been nothing but a pleasurable experience. I log on about 3-5 times a day, and I have plenty of things from my friends to look at. Facebook, from what I have gathered, is meant to be for your closest friends. I tell most people that you should only add someone as a friend if you’re comfortable giving them your phone number or seeing your personal photos. Most of my friends post their personal phone numbers for their friends. I’m easily able to go to my iPhone and pull up their contact info if I forgot it at some point.

That’s where I think a lot of people go wrong. Popular people online (i.e. Justine, Leo, AmberMac) don’t use the site correctly, and they are the ones that I’ve found to have the most complications with the site. I understand that this issue should be addressed by a big corporation like Facebook, and other things should be fixed as well. They have attempted to give a solution for this problem though. They have “pages” now for celebrities and bands to interact with their fans. Sure, this maybe a crappy way of fixing the issue, but I’ve found it to work well. For most people, I’ve found that it is one of the best things to pop up on the interwebz, and that makes me happy.

For the record, I’m Facebook friends with AmberMac, Leo, and Justine. I’m just as guilty as anyone though I just wrote a long rant about the issue. Sorry to be a Facebook apologist, but it’s one of the things essential to my online “lifestream”, and it’s really close to heart. Ok, well have a great evening. ^ uh wow! all that typing and point proving to finally conclude saying: “I’m just as guilty as anyone though” ..kind of pointless in my opinion

I don’t have the facebook problem, but it is probably because of my friend count not being quite as high as yours. I say go for Andrew M’s advice, and good luck with facebook in the future!

Maybe I have a secret bond with Facebook. I have never gotten an error message and it’s always super fast and I’ve had it for like a year. Me and Facebook are pretty tight by now, kind of like friends with benefits but better. And there’s no need for a condom when you’re with a website.

@kacy: Thanks for your long response! That’s one of the reasons that it upsets me so much that FB doesn’t work — it’s great to find out what my friends are doing.. just, sadly.. I can’t really add them I do like Facebook a lot.. just wish it would work!

You know the friends list is only supposed to be for people you know eh? Make a page for people to be fans of or something because Facebook isn’t MySpace. It’s for close circles of friends and not swarms of people you haven’t even said hello to.

What do you go by on Facebook… I’ll have to add you ! Seriously though. Sorry about your troubles with FB. Maybe they will get their act together. I have some problems too sometimes but it seems to come and go. @william … I know some websites that definitely require condoms.

Facebook and I have a love/hate relationship. Especially since the “new” Facebook occurred. It is better built than MySpace, but I have more to do on MySpace.

Ever since they added the chat bar, all their links are trying to be AJAX links, and most of the time they simply don’t work for me (firefox 3 on mac). Yeah, facebook is going downhill fast. Disappointing….

have you tried going back to the old facebook? i looked at the new facebook page once, and immediately went back to the old layout… just not for me! maybe try the old one again! good luck!
