10 minutes before the end of the exam they brought him is ale and he sat back and enjoyed it….
Fearing that this might start something the university themselves consulted the regulations, and fined him for not carrying his ceremonial sword!!!

My answer would have been:
“Try to offer her a compromise. Tell her you’ll eat with the sword slung across your back. Then, after a few days, wear it on your waist… then across your lap, then unshiethed. Alternatively, suggest reasons why it would be beneficial to bring such a weapon to to the table, such as it makes carving the roast, an otherwise time consuming activity, a breeze. A third option would be to start by bringing a small daggar to the table and work your way up to the sword.”
