As some of you know, I’ve been working on a lot of really fun projects lately and these TV commercials for Mozy.com is one of them!

Not sure why I haven’t posted these sooner, but a lot of you have been twittering me about seeing them so that’s pretty awesome. Also saw that Fake Steve aka Real Dan Lyons blogged about it so I figured I should too

I used most on my mac last year and it took all my resources on my MacPro which is just nuts. So now I am using Carbonite.

I was hoping that the stove would have gotten the dude also and that he could have backed his head up to Mosy. I’m quite forgetful and need to backup my head like my computer (which I don’t bother to do anyway). Where did they get the name Mosy from? Just curious… I’ve heard some crazy companie names, like the data center Dataside. Is that sorta like genocide, but where they destroy your data? That name is not comforting. The name Mosy is though… Pleasant thoughts for Mosy… Ring around the Mosy…

I wanted to like Mozy I really did. It was unusable with my macbook. Took forever and sloooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww They were nice in giving me my $$ back though. YMMV.

Oh well - great job on the commercials and congrats on the gig. You’re a great spokesperson for dropping things (like an iPhone)! HAHA

Remember tho - macs don’t have an F: drive so mac users don’t know what the shirt means LOL!

The adverts are great and I’m interested in signing up but I’m a bit suspicious of any company that offers unlimited anything. I have 2 1tb drives in my computer, are they really going to be happy with me setting the entire thing to backup?

I probably wouldn’t anyway though since it would take forever on my connection.

Thanks for turning me on to Mozy. Great they have Mac version and unlimited access. I will still backup locally but back up the backups online so that I have the offsite component of my backup strategy handled.

I do actually think unlimited is a bit of a stretch. If you have like me 1TB hard drives. #1 It would rape my bandwidth uploading it and #2 They would not have the space.

I guess however if your only backing up your most important files it would work.

I’d like to have the bandwidth to use mozy, but there’s no faster internet connection than 2MBit/s available at our place—an intial backup of my hundreds of GBs would take ages.

Great commercial! Mozy is quite promising for the home user if they can get past the initial slowness of the first full backup. As a backup administrator I need to get one of those shirts! Please update us all if they become available. Thanks!
