AT&T Lost in America

Posted at 5:48 pm | 32 comments

I’ve been blogging and blogging about all these random adventures that Karen and I have been on.. Alaska, Austin, Chicago.. Everyone keeps asking “When can we see what you guys are doing?”

Well, that time is NOW! Actually, the time was last week and many of you found this site before I even blogged it.. So congrats for you :)

Above is the first Episode of the Lost in Alaska series. This was an insane trip because it was right when Palin was announced as McCain’s running mate. Talk about excitement in Anchorage!

We had such a great time. You can see more of our photos fun from a few previous entries: this one and this one too!

…and then we went to Austin! Stay tuned for Chicago ;) See all of the episodes at AT&T Lost In America!!

Huge thanks to the amazing guys at Studio 8 for helping produce this great series!

Fish on your iPhone

Posted at 2:15 pm | 37 comments

What’s more useless then the $0.99 Koi Pond app on your iPhone? A $0.99 Fresh water fish aquarium on your iPhone!

Since I have a lot of issues taking care of fish, I simply can’t have one of my own. As you can see by the above video, my beloved one eyed goldfish named Uno didn’t make it very long (granted, he wasn’t very well to begin with but that’s not the point).

So, now I just keep this cute little app sitting on my desk in remembrance of the fish I once had. You can even feed your fresh water fish, and buy new ones! Yes, it’s pointless.. but how else were you going to spend 99 cents today? :) I’m sure much more wisely.

Lastly, to remember Uno properly, see his first video debut here.

Hi from SF nude beach

Posted at 7:25 pm | 41 comments

This past weekend in San Francisco has been so awesome! The weather was (and still is) amazing. I wandered my way onto this nude beach by accident. Ooops. Now you know!

Can’t wait to see the wonderful ads google pulls up for me off of these keywords. ha ha

Woo! Got another Mozy update for you. They just launched a “computer nightmare” video contest with some pretty awesome prizes (Trip for 2 to Hawaii, MacBook Pro, iPod touch’s, Flips!!! Ah!!)

..and it’s pretty simple to enter. Check that out at their very appropriate domain: computernightmare.com

Oh, and you don’t have to create a video to win. Whoever invites the most friends and votes on a lot of videos will win some treats as well.

Early submitters have an advantage though — the longer a video is up, the more votes it can get.. boooyaa! And rumor has it, they are giving away some Back the F:\ up t-shirts too ;)

Speaking of Backing the F:\ up.. they also just launched another site (and yet another appropriate domain) backthefup.net with how you can get these t-shirts!

And that’s that!

This is a sad sad tale of my shattered iPhone and how it was brought back to life. Please watch and enjoy.. and remember, your iPhone is a fragile being.

A few people were already asking how I shot this and what I used. Well, I was all alone using my Canon SD850 for video and this wonderful joby gorilla pod attached to trees and random objects.

..and the camera that took this photo of my camera is the Nikon D90 :)

Last but not least, thanks to Dana for helping my iPhone back to good health!

Flipvideo Mino HD

Posted at 11:29 pm | 29 comments

Distracted by the iPhone shattering incident, I completely forgot to blog the new Flipvideo Mino HD press release this morning! It’s true.. it’s true.. those cute little Flips will now be available in HD.

Note: Above Flip Mino HD is not to scale — It’s the same size as the last generation Minos.

QUICK STATS:

• Records up to 60 minutes
• 4GB internal memory
• Only $229.99
• 1280 x 720 resolution at 30 FPS
• MP4 file format with H.264 compression

What I’ve always loved best about the Flipvideo’s is their audio quality. It’s extremely clear and I’ve yet to find any other small consumer digital video camera that’s better (especially for the price!). One of the biggest complaints I’ve heard about the Flip’s is their video quality. I know it’s not perfect, but with the ease of use and superior audio quality, it’s never really been an issue for me.

I’ve yet to test this new one out, but as soon as I do I’ll be sure to let you know how it is! Check out the test video on their site — it looks pretty awesome. It looks a lot less shaky than the previous versions. Let me know what you think :)

Oh, and you can even customize your flips now! So tempted to get this photo on it. I’ve always wanted to be a cyborg.

Shattered iPhone!

Posted at 9:53 pm | 91 comments

I stopped by the Apple store for a minute to see if they could give me a new iPhone. I was quickly turned away.

I’m going to go buy some bandaids now :(

..lots and lots of band aids!

Above tragic photo shot quickly with my D90. View higher resolution iPhone death image on flickr. Look for an even more sad video tomorrow.

Google talk with video!

Posted at 5:47 am | 24 comments

Wow, I’m pretty excited that Google has finally launched a Mac video client for Google Talk! As you can see, I spent most of the night video chatting with myself. Really, it was a lot of fun :P

Sooo Mac users.. you can check it out here! The install takes less than a minute and you’ll instantly be able to connect to your other gtalk buddies right through the gmail interface who have video enabled.

As awesome as Skype and iChat are.. it’s rarely as stable as various online apps such as tokbox or imo.im. Specifically, imo.im allows you to connect directly to your gtalk client, AIM, Skype and more to video chat through their interface.

Above is imo.im and tokbox which are also very easy to use.

Although, most of these sites just import your contacts (from gmail!) there’s really no point of even leaving your inbox anymore. Not even to make a phone a call — voice chat! Go google!

iJustine and Mozy!

Posted at 2:25 pm | 143 comments

As some of you know, I’ve been working on a lot of really fun projects lately and these TV commercials for Mozy.com is one of them!

Not sure why I haven’t posted these sooner, but a lot of you have been twittering me about seeing them so that’s pretty awesome. Also saw that Fake Steve aka Real Dan Lyons blogged about it so I figured I should too :)

And if you missed the behind the scenes video of the stove dropping.. you can watch that here.

Burning microwave!!!

…and lawnmower :)

This was a really fun project to work on. Let me know if you see these commercials airing on your TEEEVEEEEEEE!!!!

Last two things:

• If you do decided to use more than 2 gigs of free space on Mozy, you can use the promo code iJustine to get %15 off.

• You know those Back the F:\ up t-shirts? First 10 commenters.. I’ll send you one ;)

I invented youtube

Posted at 5:45 pm | 49 comments

I enjoyed this techcrunch entry about this guy who claims to have invented YouTube. Below is his video:

Well, he OBVIOUSLY has no idea what he’s talking about because I actually did in fact invent youtube.

Really.

No, really I did.

..and if you can actually make it through either one of our videos, then I’m quite impressed at your attention span.
