Time lapse haircut

While back here in the ‘burg, the amazing John C. Simpson managed to fit me into his busy schedule for a haircut! I’ve never time lapsed a haircut before.. so I thought this would be the perfect time to do so!

Before you ask what I used to time lapse — I’ll tell you! In iMovie, there is a slightly hidden time lapse option that can be found in the drop down menu by clicking the little camera icon. Click it and it’ll bring up another dialog box of options for you to choose.

After that, I took all of the clips into Final Cut Pro and sped some of them up, took a few stills, etc.

The set-up with new my new Macbook Pro.

Getting some pretties.

..and in the end, I have a new hair cut and some colors!

Love the time-lapse effect! It’s not a drastic cut, so the change is subtle, but it’s definitely an interesting way to watch a haircut. (If watching a haircut can ever be interesting…)

Sweet.

You can’t beat time-lapse stuff. I always loved when shows like National Geographic would show time-lapses of storms roll in or out or glaciers melt … etc. I guess it works for hair cuts too.

Your hair is stunning.
I am not one to think about this, but I’d hate to imagine how much that hair cost…

Maybe the reason why I am single is the fact I didn’t notice a difference between the before and after…but maybe it is the fact that the idea of a girl in glasses playing with techtoys is simply too much for my senses to handle…or the fact you remind me of a girl I … lol yah not going there…what am I talking about..whose blog is this..

kewl time lapse feature. thnx 4 tha hedz upp. unexpected comedy highlight: couldn’t help but notice how the time lapse feature made your talking look v.v. animated. too bad there’s not a time lapse audio feature the could record and compress (as in speed up) your voice ala alvin and the chipmunks and then sync it to the time lapse video. that would be effing hilarious (lmao)

I have thought about doing this so many times!!!

How did you convince your hair dresser to let you do the time lapse video? The only thing that has stopped me making a time lapse hair cut video is the fact I don’t think my hair dresser would let me put a camera in front of me while getting my hair cut!!

Anyway I was kinda expecting some colors into your hair… like blond-pinkish… and even a little bit of blond-greenish and maybe some blond-purpleish to compensate for the greenish and then add a little bit of blueish too

Cool video! When I saw the twitpic, I thought “it’d be cool if she makes a video!” It looks like you guys had the salon all to yourselves…he must’ve made special arrangements to fit you in

I’m pretty sure I saw John as one of the platform artists for Goldwell at the hair show I went to a few months ago. He seems to be a pretty talented guy - and a great sport for cooperating with making a video. I just got my hair cut a few weeks ago and thought about doing this….next time, Gadget….next time!

so… it appears you have iMovie HD on your new macBook Pro??? They really drop out some important features on iMovie ‘08… such as video speed adjustment. But nothing can beat the real-time scrubbing preview! I wish they can put that in Final Cut Pro, so I might actually be intrigue to learn.
