YouTube HD

Posted at 8:47 pm | 42 comments

Today I was messing around testing out YouTube’s new HD video option to compare. Above are a few screen shots of three quality versions from a quick sample video of my bad hair day. Noticed the huge difference in the HD! I didn’t even shoot this with an HD cam, so I’m sure the quality would have been even better if I did. I just used my Canon SD850.

Typically if you upload any normal video you’ll get the option to view in normal quality and high-quality. Now, if you upload an HD video, you’re presented with that option instead of the high-quality.

I was a bit skeptical since every other video sharing website seemed to be ahead of YouTube which at least supported 16:9 videos, like viddler and vimeo. Finally, YouTube has jumped on the bandwagon. I’ve never even bothered to upload an HD video in the past so I didn’t have much to compare it to… but, now I’m going to start — Woo!

So, the album is actually okay and I just wanted to admit that I bought it. I mean, I already tweeted it, and photoshopped my face onto her body.. why not make a video confession?

My wonderful photoshop!

Here’s the photoshop progression — making the Coley face and photo by Jannygirl! View fullsize on flickr.

Twitter is not a blog

Posted at 5:06 pm | 130 comments

Yesterday I learned that twitter wasn’t a blog! I had no idea since as far as I knew, twitter has been called a micro-blog since the very beginning.

Now, that’s fine if you don’t want to follow me.. but don’t be a hypocrite by saying I tweet about nothing when actually.. your tweets contain way less content than mine:

What are your thoughts about twitter? I follow different people for different reasons. Some are personal friends and others are great news sources. Either way, sorry to break it to you, but twitter is more of a blog than an actual blog is.

Dec 2

Usually anything over that 99 cent price point is a deal killer.. but as of lately, there are some apps that are worth that and maybe even more! These are a few applications that have been taking a lot of my free time and battery life.

The Price is Right - $4.99

This game could not be anymore exact than what you remember watching growing up (at least for me). If you manage to bid your way off of contestants row, you’ll be taken up on stage to play one of the oh so familiar games like Plinko, Shell Game, Hole in One and Cliff Hangers! Each prize you bid on is an animated video clip from the actual show!

Trism - $2.99

An addicting triangle matching strategy game that will keep you entertained and competitive for hours! In this game is another 3 mini-games based off the same concept original concept. Submit your overall highscore online to see where you rank.

Nightcamera - $0.99

Left photo is with Nightcamera — Right photo is without Nightcamera

I use my iPhone as a camera more often than an actual phone. One of the biggest complaints is taking photos in low light situations but with this application, it will only take a photo when your iPhone is completely still using the accelerometer. You’ll end up with photos that are much more crisp and clear when it’s darker.

Freshwater Aquarium - $0.99

If you ever wanted to have fish but just couldn’t or didn’t want to take care of them, this is the perfect alternative! You have a choice of over 20 fresh water fish to choose from plus fun little ornaments to place in your tank. Feed your fish often to grow them quickly and sell for gold!

Ocarina - $0.99

Yes, just like Zelda.. this is a real Ocarina instrument that you can play alone, or.. with a friends. Not sure how to play? Well, no worries because there is sheet music that makes learning a snap.

Billy Frontier - On sale! $0.99

Not just clothing and gadgets go on sale during black Friday anymore.. all of Pangea Software’s games went on sale which boosted all of their apps up to the top of iTunes this weekend. With that said, I quickly bought up all of them and this game has been the most fun so far! Billy Frontier is a space cowboy and you go around killing aliens using your touch screen precision to shoot.

Tweetie - $2.99

One of the best light weight twitter applications out there! It gives you access to your friends tweets, @ replies, direct messages, favorites and even a few extra goodies. You can check out trends, search, look at your profile and even see your followers. The best feature though is that you can use more than one twitter account at the same time so it makes tweeting from multiple accounts quite simple.

Picoli - $2.99

Left photo is before using Picoli and the right is after using Picoli (Thanks to Ramil for the awesome cake photo!).

Not so enthused with a shot you just took? Maybe you just need to lighten it slightly then sharpen it a bit and adjust the colors. Picoli allows you to do that and more!

Fake Calls - $0.99

Maybe not a MUST have but it’s pretty awesome to pick up the phone and Steve Jobs (or anyone you want) is calling.. that’s all I’ve got to say about that!
