Oooh that’s right ladies and gentleman, the Zappos / iJustine “I tweet myself” video is the #4 best twitter song of all time. Feel free to scroll down to the bottom of all the other vids and vote for us to be #1! Yes! Go team Zappos!
I’m sure you all might have seen it by now, but if now.. here’s a flash from the past:
Tweet tweet! I’m also working on a twitter tutorial video.. so if you have any twitter questions, feel free to leave them in the comments. I have a bunch of them so far that I got from people on twitter, but more the merrier!
Last, I thought it was pretty funny that the guy in that article wrote that I auctioned myself off on ebay. I’m not sure if I forgot about doing that sometime in my life, but as far as I know.. that’s never happened It was an iPod and a video for charity lol.
Not sure how many of you use multiple Macs, but if you do.. this is an amazing extension that you MUST check out! It’s called teleport!
As you can see above, I still use my old Macbook Pro because it has files on it that I sometimes need and I like to keep open tweetdeck to see my tweets (yeah, so basically an entire computer dedicated to twitter)
Best things about this extension:
• Use one mouse and keyboard to easily navigate your way from one computer to the other.
• Drag and drop files between the two.. or three or four!
• Copy and paste from one computer to the other!
• If you move one computer, you can quickly change computers virtual location in the control panel.
• It’s free!!
Hope this helps some of you out. Thanks to @neilmg for the tip.
Oooh yeah! Here’s the ask ij #2. Be sure to twitter your questions, leave comments on the above video and make response videos to possibly be in a future episode
To ask a question on twitter, use this format: @ijustine type your question here #askij
WIN A wii FROM OVERLAY!
It’s really simple! All you gotta do is go here and make a product review! Overlay makes it simple to do these types of fun overlays and since everyone seems to want me to do a product review.. now you can make your own It’s pretty awesome.
Can’t wait to see your reviews!!! Remember, keep it clean and be nice! They’ll be picking a winner the last day of SXSW Interactive on March 17th.
While at a stoplight, I look over and see this guy holding huge pieces of sheet metal to the roof of his car!! Granted, it does look to be tied to the roof ever so slightly with what looks to be thread.. this can’t be safe!
As the light turned green, he sped away holding his sheet metal to his roof. What if it starts sliding? Does he really think that he’s going to be able to hold that there without cutting his hand off? Crazy.
As a side note, in good lighting.. the iPhone takes very nice photos. I used night camera for this shot and acted like I was talking on the phone so if he looked over.. he’d have no idea about the mini photo shoot he was partaking in.
My last blog entry was all about my kitchen office. After watching it, I realized I needed to get a real desk with some more space for all that stuff! So, off to Ikea I went. As you can see.. I got a little side tracked.
The only real question… have any of you actually tried the Ikea meatballs???!!! I don’t even know if it’s real meat but it sure was tasty. Also, the Mac and cheese = win.
I did get a desk and all that fun stuff.. but not as blog worthy as the treats!
Yes it’s true.. but, here’s a behind the scenes of the first Ask ij episode Subscribe to my other youtube channel otherijustine for more of these types of videos!
There’s a new micro-photo-blogger-sharer (I just made up that title) site in town that I’ve been checking out called dailybooth and it’s pretty fun. Even though it seems pretty early, there is quite an active community of people which is great.
You post a photo of yourself (or anything else you might want to post a photo of) and your friends can then comment and even leave you photo comments in return.
Check it out and let me know what you think. Feel free to follow my photos
It’s a pretty cool site and is very similar to dailymugshot. I’ve only used DMG a few times but I enjoy the photo commenting and friend interaction on dailybooth a lot more!
Sooo I get a lot of questions and decided to make a show out of it. This was actually a suggestion from a bunch of you when I asked you what kind of show I should do — so thanks! Keep it up! I’ll be doing these in conjunction with live shows as well. Will keep you posted about that
Now for links to stuff I talked about in the show.
She’s one of my many favorites — Julia Nunes! I’ll feature some more of my favorite random interneters every so often. Look for that!
HOW TO ASK QUESTIONS ON TWITTER:
Figured I’d throw this in for those of you who are new to twitter. As I described in the video above, I use a site called summize (twitters search feature) to search for hash tags. The one for this show is #askij — so, all you would need to type in the “What are you doing box” is the following: @ijustine type your question here #askij
..and that’s it! Leave me some feedback in the comments. Would love to hear your thoughts. I have a bunch of ideas for this show that will be fun. Looking forward to your questions! Yay!
I was in San Francisco this weekend and decided to bring the twitter office cupcakes!
I’m sure judging by my blog entries and my videos.. you all could guess what my favorite website is: twitter! I’ve been on the site since around October 2006 after finding it in a random Google employee blog entry. How I found that entry.. I have no idea.
It was still a young little site with no one @ing each other constantly. It wasn’t conversational but very effective in finding out exactly what my friends were doing (after forcing them to join, that is). I really don’t even think direct messaging was there at the time!
Circa Macworld 2007 I met Leo Laporte on a taping of Mac Break Weekly. During the show when I should have been paying attention to everyone talking, I was busy twittering away about being on the show — I was so excited! Leo took notice of my attention being elsewhere and asked what was so intriguing about my then Treo 700p? I proceeded to explain that I was twittering and everyone was a little skeptical.. until they started using it!
Leo was quick to jump on the bandwagon and brought over the TWiT (this week in tech) army. This was a huge stress for twitter because the massive amounts of people who started joining and following him all at once. He quickly shot up to the most followed in what seemed like a day. It was amazing to watch all of the new conversations start and twitter habits form. People started using @nickname to address other users and shortly after twitter added links to the user profile following the @.
One of the biggest milestones I can remember for twitter was SXSW in 2007 and I wasn’t even at the conference! At this time, I was still getting text message updates to my phone… from everyone! This was also the first time that I had to turn those updates off. People were going crazy and the site was getting so much interest because it was quickly becoming a tool people were relying on. They needed it to stay in touch with everyone at the event. Updates about parties, conversations, meetups and popular quotes from panel speakers were unstoppable. Twitter won the SXSW 2007 Web award in the blog category.
All throughout the 2007, twitter was quickly working on scaling to address their new traffic and discovery. It had it’s rough points, but being one of the first bigger sites to embrace ruby on rails, they had a lot of work ahead of them.
I remember the first few times twitter started breaking into the mainstream world, other than news. They had a quick little feature on CSI and took part in the MTV video music awards. I will also never forget my first twitter earthquake — I was really scared and twittered that I thought there was an earthquake. I quickly ran to my computer to check my tweets and was assured that it was in fact my first earthquake — scary!
It’s been an amazing service to watch grow into it’s current state. It’s now become one of the quickest forms of news travel. When there’s an earthquake, it’s reported on twitter as it’s happening before any new source even has a chance to pick it up. When the Minneapolis bridge collapsed, I heard about it on twitter first and knew my friends were safe by getting their updates. When the US Airways plane crashed into the Hudson, a twitpic of the tragedy was instantly all over the web. Most recently, 200+ cities had twitter festivals on the same day to raise money for charity: water and mostly using twitter to spread the word about the events.
Anyways hope you enjoy the quick video of their office. Twitter has been a big part of my life the past few years and I’m really happy to see how far it’s come. Thanks to Ev for giving me a quick tour!
Feel free to follow me @ijustine if you aren’t already and @ev too!
