Matthew on Feb 20th 2009 at 5:31 pmThe freeze frame on the computer when you pass by it is hilarious.
Quintessential Studios on Feb 20th 2009 at 5:31 pmCute setup. So… what are you using for a camera there? And has your setup changed now?
AJ Langhorn on Feb 20th 2009 at 5:31 pmJust shows what you can do with iLife on a Macbook, an exterior wall light with a DIY stand and a bit of creativeness..
Matt Hoult on Feb 20th 2009 at 5:31 pmThis is really cool, I love seeing how you do these things. Thanks for the video.
Matthew Hawkins on Feb 20th 2009 at 5:31 pmIs your apartment just your kitchen and bedroom? That’s not small, that’s a shed with a stove
Thanks for sharing behind the scenes. I was really curious about your lighting set-up, keeping things simple is usually the best way to do it.
Alex on Feb 20th 2009 at 5:31 pmWell great, so now you can record and grab a quick snack… then come back & eat some more! :> Hmm…
… oh darn I’m hungry, now I need to move my laptop downstairs and keep it there…
Lee on Feb 20th 2009 at 5:31 pmLove the iMovie 09 theme work
Conor Mitchell on Feb 20th 2009 at 5:31 pmYour office rocks! Mine temporally, actually permanently, is in my bedroom. No studio until I get my own apartment or my own house.
chris on Feb 20th 2009 at 5:31 pmAt least it’s a nice studio apartment, with nice shiny appliances!

shylie on Feb 20th 2009 at 5:31 pmSniffing nail polish remover. That explains a lot. Just the behind the scenes info I was looking for.
AJ Langhorn on Feb 20th 2009 at 5:31 pm@iDAVE Blackmoore (Twitter syntax is getting to me!)
Could you rephrase your last post in ENGLISH like everyone else seems capable of doing?Ta muchly!
James Holmes on Feb 20th 2009 at 5:31 pmJustine - I knew it! You are using all of the high-tech gadgets and only the latest in lighting gear to make your amazing videos. That was fun to watch!
You are awesome and add much to the social media community!
Heather Capri on Feb 20th 2009 at 5:31 pmKilla! That’s my kind of studio. My old voice-over studio was in the tiny hallway closet of a ghetto apartment on the other side of the tracks… For realsies, we couldn’t record till the train went by and stopped choo-choo-ing. FAKE IT TILL YOU MAKE IT! gyeah.
Arthur on Feb 20th 2009 at 5:31 pmWhy you wrote “geek” on your Twitter bio background ?
You’re not geek! You’re very cool![]()
Love ya ! <3

Daynah on Feb 20th 2009 at 5:31 pmIs this what they mean when they say “studio apartment?” heh Since you don’t cook, I’m glad to see you’re using that space for something else. Kidding!
Skybuck on Feb 20th 2009 at 5:31 pmWow,
I am quite shocked about how much light you use… and the equipment… To me it seemed like you simply pointed a video camera/web cam and started recording.
Maybe you should make a video without all that light to show the difference ?
Nicolas on Feb 20th 2009 at 5:31 pmWhy do you have the giant Valentines Day Card still in your appartment???
Nicolas on Feb 20th 2009 at 5:31 pmI do think there are too many laptops for such an small apartment!!! and yeah… HOW MUCH IS THE ELECTRICITY BILL???
Fira on Feb 20th 2009 at 5:31 pmLove your Behind the scene videos…. help me to see what to do when I actually start video casting me… lol…
Derek on Feb 20th 2009 at 5:31 pmFor some reason when you showed the light on top of the ‘fridge grill thing I thought it was some kind of BBQ gadget.
Thanks for popping my bubble.
*sigh*
Callum on Feb 20th 2009 at 5:31 pmWith your talent you should be able to get a decent light sponsor for some cool running dedos and softies
iGhost on Feb 21st 2009 at 5:31 pmHi, where’d you learn about lighting? Great job.
L.Michael on Feb 21st 2009 at 5:31 pmHey Justine… Neat vid! I’m following you on Twitter [how'd this come to be? You're asking ME? ...I joined Twitter maybe a week ago and the site seems to have assigned me to follow, like, 18 people (including you) with zero input from me... I've whittled down this initial 18 by almost half - and now I'm so glad I've kept you, since that's how I've learned of your vid]…
Analysis? Beyond me, I can barely shot a still photo, far less make a vid or critique one! Still, FMMW, I’d say it was a little jumpy - a little less erratic on the angle-changes might be good… also, maybe include a wide-angle shot of the entire studio/kitchen for context - alternatively, how about a slow pan of the whole space?
I don’t think you are an immediate threat to Spielberg or Spike Lee; even the Cohen brothers are safe from you a while longer… But stay with it! …Brava! …[LMM]
Daisy on Feb 21st 2009 at 5:31 pmhi, i was wondering if u knew any other programs like imovie but is compatable with windows vista??? I love all your videos, there always fun to watch!!!!
WOW Your very cool, love your lighting on Feb 21st 2009 at 5:31 pmYou sure have a great set-up in your kitchen and bedroom
Keep it up and all the best
Skybuck on Feb 21st 2009 at 5:31 pmLooks very bright… I am amazed you ain’t blind yet ?
Cristina on Feb 21st 2009 at 5:31 pmTotally off topic with your blog entry, I just saw your Mozy commercial on the Military Channel!! I recognized your voice and then ran out into the living room and saw you on my TV!! HAH!
J. Nathan Simmons on Feb 21st 2009 at 5:31 pmNice job on lighting, isn’t it a amazing how ordinary house hold appliances can lend out on a job ( referring to the refrigerator rack ) Creativity is one of your major pluses keep up the great work !!!
Skybuck on Feb 21st 2009 at 5:31 pmI think most men would rather see it the other way around:
“My kitchen is my office”

kel on Feb 21st 2009 at 5:31 pmJustine we all know that is your studio apartment where you live. It obvious. So where in LA do you live. Also did you go to Carson IKEA store.
Jon on Feb 21st 2009 at 5:31 pmHey Jus… Just wondering what camera you are using ?
Joanna on Feb 21st 2009 at 5:31 pmSo did you ever made a collab video for charity water?
Quantum Mechanic on Feb 22nd 2009 at 5:31 pmJustine is absolutely awesome - bombdiggitylicious even! I love this video!
Skybuck on Feb 22nd 2009 at 5:31 pmAll that light must be keeping you awake !
Dwayneosx on Feb 22nd 2009 at 5:31 pmFor a while there i thought you were using a green screen with a vignetted gradient background from photoshop (or something to that extent) That must save soooooooooooooooooooooooo much time with editing! Keep up the good work Justine! Looking forward to future vids!
Dwayneosx on Feb 22nd 2009 at 5:31 pmawesome!
Nickcast on Feb 23rd 2009 at 5:31 pmSweet gotta love the Blue Mics. You should do a video at the In-N-Out burger, there’s always a lot of interesting people there. Also maybe like a Frozen Yogurt Video, I thought it would be funny if someone put Frozen Yogurt and Cupcakes together both like food trends, maybe it’s just me.
David on Feb 23rd 2009 at 5:31 pmWhat model Blue Mic are you using? Is it the eyeball or one similar to it?
ierict on Feb 24th 2009 at 5:31 pmCool to see the set up. Shows that you don’t need a million bucks to shoot good video. You just have to do a little research and some trial and error
BSCHH on Feb 28th 2009 at 5:31 pmI just read alot of comments and I find it ironic that you have this great big kitchen, but you don’t cook well! haha. also you sounded a little embarrased when you said “…and theres my, uh, laptops”
ijustineisaweirdheadbutsheisfunny on Feb 28th 2009 at 5:31 pmwoo.
Andres on Feb 28th 2009 at 5:31 pmDIY is the route I take when camera accessories are way to expensive.
Thanks for taking us behind the scenes. I improvised on a poor man’s steady cam for my HD camera about 2 months ago with only $25 in parts.VIDEO: http://vimeo.com/2517626
Averagejyo on Mar 3rd 2009 at 5:31 pmI was just wondering how to get a nice white background…Now I know. Thanks
