Been playing with Tweetie for a couple of hours and I doubt Twitterific will be fired up on my Mac again. Not convinced I’ll replace Twitterfon on the iPhone yet (I’m slightly more loyal to particular iPhone apps for some reason) but Tweetie is definitely now the one to watch.

@DreRawka thinks tweetie is DOPE!!!!!!!!!! But i’m using TweetDeck as of now but idk I think you just made me switch it up to Tweetie : )

I love this app, i’m just getting used to the ads, i don’t know if i should buy it….
and btw, 4 accounts!! really? c’mon girl!

We have to look far to find a OS X app which is more beautiful <3

Functionality wise its great. But I’m a sucker for good looking things, and unfortunately I think its pretty ugly on the whole. Everything from the Icon, to the Menu Bar icon, to the interface itself…. something about it just doesn’t feel right. When you’re charging for something - it needs to be spot on. Tweetie is not spot on.

it looks awesome, much better than tweetdeck… but, my mac isn’t working… =/

This app is pure awesomeness.
Especially when you want to twit on different accounts! Twitterrific was terrible in this field!

P.S.
I think that the MultiAccount part on tweetie 4 iphone should be improved.. I mean, it works great, but when you want to choose which account use, you have to select it from a list (which is almost 50% empty, except from your case)!
Maybe it would work better (and nicer) with large icons, like the images of the profiles.

I think that this app is pure awesomeness (yes that’s right)! It’s a sexy app that makes twittering very easy and fun, though it does miss the ability to add groups. Other than that, it’s finally got me off the twitter website.

I remember when I used to use Scribbles by them! It was great! but I only have one account on twitter and use TweetDeck at the moment! but this looks great - maybe ill swap over soon! and ij - your blog is only copyright of 2007 - not 2009 (Only just noticed it down at the bottom)

The app is amazing, I think, but I don’t know if I can handle the ads. I may have to buy the premium version now. Hate ads and they often have worms and viruses in them. Thanks, Justine.

I would never pay 15 dollars for a twitter app. You can use twiiter for free. BLAH!

I’m really loving the new Tweetie for Mac OS X, particularly because it’s a truly NATIVE Cocoa application! I’ve tried TweetDeck out a few different times, but I can’t stand how Adobe AIR “applications” end up using as much RAM as Firefox and Safari. Are you serious? 200 MB of RAM just to see my twitterfeed? No thanks. Tweetie weighs in at a paltry 28 MB, and looks very very clean. Me likey!

I’ve been using it all day and it doesn’t seem to refresh when you tell it to. Only way I can get it to do so is by quitting and then restarting. Anyone else have this problem?

@tyce: I have been running into that issue too. I’m not sure if it’s an api thing or the actual app itself?

great app for a v1.0! actually the only complaint I can think of is I wish I could remove the icon from the dock.

I just installed it. It’s great! Nice & simple interface! But I just don’t understand why I have to open a new window for entering a new tweet.

I like it but lacks some of the features I have grown to love about Tweetdeck. I need groupings so I can sort the growing list of people I follow into categories/subject matter… It makes it really hard to spend the time reading through one very long list I get that with just logging on the website… groupings is a real must have. I hope future releases the author will seriously look at the users requests.

@Tim — agreed! I just hate the air apps but tweetdeck does do a great job of that. Hopefully tweetie will have this in the future.

I think it is amazing the visual effects are nice and simple very well done in my mind.

how do you set up tweetie with multiple accounts?

I want some sort of notification when new tweets arrive but I have the program minimized. Twitterrific can do that, why not Tweetie?

I love Tweetie Desktop for mac.. it’s awesome app much better than al other twitter clients I have used before including, twitterific, twhirl, and Tweetdeck which I have been using for some time now. The interface looks great, and best of all it snapy like all native mac apps should be. I wish all abobe air apps would be like this. Just my 2 cents…. oh, and I did I mention it’s not a memory hog…. runs only alu macbook pro like a charm…

I like tweetie alot never used it to tweet - just to check on things. But i often in back to tweetdeck because im used to it. I’m like that with safari. I end up using firefox. I suppose its what your used to and your personal taste. The ui is superb however i cant get used to it as i did with tweetdeck. And also with tweetdeck you can update facebook which is cool too. And i agree that i wouldn’t pay that much for a twitter app when twitter its self is free-there are many free tweetie alternatives!

Oh. And is it just me because ijustine and others notice ram use with tweetdeck being an air app. I personaly don’t notice it. Even when editing videos and other high ram using apps

Tweetie for iPhone is by far my favorite twitter app. So I was anxious to try this Mac desktop version as soon as I saw the article on digg. Initial impressions are very positive. There are a few (to be expected) 1.0 problems (difficult to add a second account, but there is a workaround).

I love the ease of being able to post from either of my two twitter accts (personal and podcast). This will replace my use of twhirl and tweetdeck.

For my taste, the app is a little chunky on the desktop. I would like to see an option to use smaller icons in the sidebar and shrink the width of the app a little more than currently possible. But knowing atebits, I’m sure they will continue to deliver a superior twitter experience.

I may have to add this as a subject on an upcoming podcast.

I’ll stick to EventBox, I don’t see the need for multiple twitter accounts.

I’ve tried it out. It’s missing some features that I love about TweetDeck. If they’re ever added in the future, I may give it another look but for now? I’ll pass… looks good and runs quickly if you need something a bit more basic, though.

YES! i downloaded this today! i am SO happy! love the iPhone client and love the desktop version too!

I dont have multiple Twitter accounts. I feel like such a loser.

I purchased it! The app is amazing! I previously used TweetDeck but for some reason whenever I dragged a photo or something out of iPhoto to put in Skitch, if I had TweetDeck open my iMac would completely freeze to a halt.

Oh, and hint, if you buy it, your license key will likely have a hilarious phrase in it.

I think I’m gonna give Eventbox and Nambu a try.. I ain’t married to any twitter client just yet… I want to get a good picture of what native clients are avaible for the mac.. I’ve messing too long with slow, adobe air clients

I’ve been playing with it for the past few days…. I’m torn… $14.95 is still a lot of money.

Tweetie is definitely becoming “the” twitter client for Macs. Twirhl is nice, along with Twitterfon, but they’re not without their quirks. I was a little reluctant to try Tweetie on the desktop at first because it’s difficult for a someone to hit a home run with two different versions of their app, but Tweetie definitely pulls this off!
