Apps for your new iPhone 3GS

When they announced the “S” in the new iPhone 3GS was for SPEED, they weren’t kidding! This little guy is definitely a huge step up from the last gen.
Granted, the 3.0 software is a huge part of that.. you can definitely tell how much faster it is when playing games and even taking videos (which I do quite often and post on my otherijustine youtube channel)!

Sims 3 - $9.99
The first game I downloaded was the new Sims 3 game. It was a bit pricey, but these types of games for me will get a lot of usage on airplanes and traveling. The game is pretty fun and just like any other Sims game you’d normally play on your computer — get a job, buy things for you house, and make other Sims friends. My only complaint is that you really can’t do all that much and interaction with other Sims is a little bit limited. It’s still entertaining enough to kill some time. Tip: Go fishing and sell the fish — You’ll get quick cash! Oh, and meet my husband Luke above. We just got married and he moved in.

Star Defense - $5.99
This is probably one of the most fun games I’ve played in a long time on my iPhone. If you ever played the addicting Tower Defense game, this one is even more fun and all in 3D. It has a great user experience and also has a challenge level — this allows you to tweet or facebook your scores to challenge others.

Flight Control - $0.99
By far one of the MOST addicting games you’ll ever play!! The best part is that it’s only 99 cents
You have to land plans and helicopters on the runway without them crashing into each other. Sounds simple enough but once you start getting to higher levels.. it’s not so simple! My highest score is 149 — I didn’t restore my new iPhone from my last one so it didn’t save it. Let me know what your highest score it!

Tweetie - 2.99
Tweetie is great because it has a great user interface, is quick, allows multiple user accounts, trends, find users nearby, and pretty much every feature you’d want in a twitter application. They’ve also added some themes too — dark, simple and bubble!

Tweet Deck - FREE!
Since tweetdeck is free, there is really no excuse not to try it. The interface is extremly impressive allowing you swipe through columns of all friends, mentions, direct messages and any custom one you create. The only downside is that this app is still early and is missing a lot of features. It doesn’t have trends, clickable hashtags, or a way for you to go directly to a users profile page. It’s also a little unstable at times, but hopefully this will all be resolved in a future update.

PixelPipe - Free
This app is great for syndicating photos and videos out to the web. I’m pretty sure it includes every major social networking and sharing site that you could ever want to send your content to — pretty crazy!
When I synced my new iPhone I left all of the applications off. I went a little overboard on my last phone and really never used ANY of those crazy things I downloaded. Other than these apps, I also have Facebook, foursquare, taximagic, nightcamera, and photogene installed currently on my phone. These are all great apps that server their purpose. On my new phone, I’m vowing to create less clutter with apps that aren’t needed.
