Flying sucks.. It really does. But it’s the small things like wifi and photobooth that make these otherwise long and boring flights that much more fun.

For those who have already been asking questions about airlines with wifi, Virgin America has all of their planes currently equipped, American Airlines has most, and Southwest is currently testing it out on a few planes.

I also did a little google search to see if anyone else has plans and it looks like United has just started testing it out on CA-NY flights! Most of them are using Aircell’s gogo service. It rocks.

Thankfully, if this flight wouldn’t have had wifi.. I would have had some serious Farmville crop damage. I planted strawberries before I left the house! Ah!

Have any of you tested out wifi on a flight yet? What was your experience?

Have yet to try wifi on a plane but i love Virgin America!

No…unfortunately in NC I don’t think there are any flights with WiFi. No flights that I’ve been on anyways. Internet would make flights infinitely more enjoyable. That and a power outlet or several batteries on long ones for lots of Hulu goodness!

I tried it out on a Delta flight from Miami to Atlanta. It was also the GoGo service. Made the flight go by so much faster!

I tried gogo on a Delta flight between Atlanta and Rochester last month. Was free to try and worked well. A YouTube video started streaming after only a few seconds.

I’m stuck using USA3000, which, as a result, is wi-fi deprived. You should Ustream one of your flights sometime. That would be fun.

I was on delta and they had gogo wi-fi. it was kind of expensive though! I got a song on itunes the day before. Then as you did, i took pictures on photobooth.

I tried once, but it was between Stockholm and London. It worked flawlessly i just find it so scary to have my cellphone turned on during a flight. It feels like the whole plane all of a sudden goes nose down and start crashing because of my phone making some weird stuff to the computer system on the flight LOL

Aircell is good, but not if your flying over water. Aircell uses air-to-ground (ATG) service, and it breaks up over water or when connecting to different towers. Row 44 is working on Satellite connection and claims to be twice as fast as gogo. Haven’t had a Southwest flight with it yet to check it out. Alaskan Airlines also offers Row 44, but yeah, my trips to that state are non-existent.

I don’t know about wifi on a plane , but been in Puma Helicopter at a 1000 feet with the doors open. Just was fun, Weeeeeeeeeeee. Your pic’s are awesome and funny. Time you touch in NY, I’ll be in bed. So Nite Nite, Sweet Dreams. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

heh even in Czech republic have wifi, but it is shitfi - we are czech you cant want so much like good wifi

I tested it out on my Delta flight just the other day with the Gogo service. You just register and BAM you’re connected. It was AWESOME!

I haven’t tried it on any flights yet. I just bury myself in a book and hope that my seatmates aren’t the chatty types.

Last time I was on a plane was months ago… but I try @ places that say the have free Wi-Fi; never worked so far.

Just used WiFi on AirTran, for the first time, on a 4 hour flight from Las Vegas to Atlanta. It was amazingly fast and consistent. The signal did not drop, once.

What I liked was that I could do some work on the plane. Then, when I arrived at my hotel in Atlanta, I could just crash for a couple of hours, and then go out to dinner. I wasn’t tempted (and it wasn’t necessary) to check my email, immediately upon arrival.

I’m a big Southwest Airlines customer. They have just completed tests and selected a company called Row 44, for their service.

I will be curious to see how this plays out, on Southwest, and generally.

Well, I used AirTran as well, (@Andy Ebon) and he is correct. It was fast and great. The prices are slightly higher on longer trips, however.

Delta always works great for me. You can get free service if you sign up as a 1st time user w/ the code DELTATRYGOGO. Enjoy!

from which parts of america do you travel and there is wifi on the plane? with american airlines?

that would be sweet to have wifi on long journeys espesialy with the long lastin battery life on the macbook pros.

it will be a long time before we see that in europe.. wifi on a plane that alone would give me something to do for the whole trip.. your lucky

Had Wi-Fi on an AirTran flight over the summer. The plan was to be super productive. The plan failed once I logged into Facebook and TweetDeck. I basically spend the time telling everyone how great Wi-Fi in the skies was. Then we landed.

Reading your post on a westbound flight from ATL to Vegas on Airtran’s gogo rollout. It works great… just a few lags here and there, and IM isn’t always reliable. With drinks and WIFI, I am wondering if this is a gateway drug to a SkyMall purchase.
