I think the answer to your question is that yes, it’s a swear word. As a smart woman you’ll surely know that swear words fall into one of two categories: 1. vulgarities and 2. blasphemies. Vulgarities are course or common terms or phrases that demean the human body or its functions. Blasphemies are course or common language that refers to God or religious institutions. Because be-yot** (or whatever spelling variant you prefer) is a course way to refer to a woman it’s possible your mom would object.
