Yesterday I went to a “Rock The Vote” event with Intel at the Esquire ultimate bachelor pad. This place was unbelievable and pretty much everything in it was unnecessary. (Sky dress by Zeny’s!)

I mean, they had toilets that have more options than a remote control. In the back yard is an art piece that detects movement then records it for playback on a little screen built-in (I forgot to take a picture, ah!).

One of the showers was the size of my first apartments. The master bedroom was lined with an entire wall of glass that opens up to a deck huge deck and an amazing view of LA.

There were a lot of celebrities there but my favorite find was Aly and AJ . A fair portion of my youtube comments are “Hey, you look like AJ (or is it Aly?) and I never knew who they were until now. So, youtube commenters — this photo is for you :)

Red carpet.. ooooo

Oh and look.. Obama and Palin made an appearance too!

View from the above deck.

Supernote

Posted at 6:38 pm | 20 comments

So, there’s this little contest held by Rhett and Link on youtube to see how long you can hold a single note. It’s pretty easy to join in.. all you have to do is make a little video of your supernote then add it as a response video to mine (and yes, that would mean you are on my team ;)).

Rhett and Link will be adding all of the supernote times together and picking the team with the longest combined note on Halloween.

..and yes, this is a really crazy idea — that’s why I’m participating :)

Uh oh! Looks as if some people have been getting the metal prongs on the iPhone 3G USB adapter stuck in outlets.

Today Apple announce an exchange program for those with the affected adapters which were supplied with all iPhone 3G’s in the US, Japan, Canada, Mexico, and several Latin countries.

If you have an adapter with a greendot, these are not the ones being recalled:

You can exchange it for a new one in the following ways:

• Order online and will ship starting Oct 10
• Exchange at an Apple Retail Store starting on October 10.

I’ve been looking for some pictures of these things stuck in outlets, but haven’t found one yet. Let me know if you come across any!

Nikon D90 - Yay!

Posted at 12:33 am | 25 comments

I’m quite excited to review this tasty new Nikon D90 — but this isn’t the entry I’ll be doing that in. I’m just quite overjoyed and had to share this wonderful unboxing photo taken from my iSight. :)

It’s been over 2 years since I had my Canon kit + lenses (and another $10,000 of equipment) stolen. That’s kinda when I gave up on photography and turned mostly to video… but with this little guy, I can have the best of both worlds!

Oh, what’s that?? A DSLR that does video? Yeah, it records 24fps and up to 720p HD. I’ll post a few preview videos up here this weekend for you to check out.

I’ve almost always shot with Canon’s so this is all new.. come learn with me :)

(on an iPhone? View video on YouTube)

I’ve been so busy these past few weeks shooting for pluggedin — I’m going to be hosting their new music show that will be launching sometime in October. I’m so excited because it’s definitely way different than anything I’ve been doing. Plus, I’m getting back into my love of music which I sorta gave up when I became obsessed with the internet. :P

We’ve been running all around LA these past few days shooting in crazy locations. It’s great because I definitely do not know my way around the city at all so I’m learning a ton in the process.

Making faces at Sushi on Sunset (Sky dress from Zenys :))

Gizmo was there too!

Chilled with some ducks in Echo Park. Our director, Patrick also dropped his keys into the lake just as we got there. He never got them back..

Went to China town..

…and I bought this on the street for the shoot — on sale! $18! Ha ha.

Road a donkey on Olvera Street. I have a lot of amo.

Shooting at a skate ramp in Venice.

Do you want some soup? haha, this graffiti is awesome. Also note the little taco sticker. That was my favorite.

This is at the Town House in Venice. It’s one of the oldest bars in LA and used to be a speakeasy in the 30’s. It’s really awesome. Can’t wait to show you the video from here.

Interviewed Matt Nathanson yesterday! I didn’t know who was at the time, but his music is really good (I’m a new fan). I just got his latest album from iTunes “Some Mad Hope”. A few people on twitter also told me to check out his older stuff as well.. still working on that! :)

Last but not least, I’ll be posting an entry of all the winners for the random contest I’ve had floating around this past month. That includes the toilet caption contest, guess which Apple Store I’m in, and the Apple Store same-shirt contests. I also have a few new ones coming up that I’ve partnered with people for prizes. Really excited to share that with you :)

Blast off with Norton

Posted at 12:13 am | 53 comments

Wow, so this weekend I went to Vegas with Symantec with their “Blast off with Norton” promo to do the Zero Gravity flight!

It was seriously so much fun — It’s way too hard to even explain the feeling of being weightless for the first time ever. I have a lot more videos and photos that I’ll put up in another entry. The above video is one that they edited for everyone who was there.

Also, as you can see my ostrich was there for every step of the way.

Now, not only was this an extremely fun experience.. but I also got to hear first hand all about their latest product launch: Norton 2009. Everything that has probably annoyed you about security software in the past, they’ve fixed.

Even though I’m not a big PC user, I have used them in the past and can tell you how much I hated dealing with the any and all anti-virus software.. until now!

They’ve made it much more ‘mac like’ with one click install and is completed in under a minute. Everything has been completely restructured so instead of infected files being on a blacklist, they’ve started using a technique dubbed the Norton Insight. This is a white list of most commonly used files and applications across all computers running Norton 2009.

Instead of wasting time rescanning these already deemed safe files (Firefox, Microsoft Office, etc) it moves on. This can easily be compared to bit-torrent for file security. Oh, and they’ll never bug you for an update when your gaming, watching a movie or doing anything important :P

I’m very interested to see how this will work out. I’ve only been able to play with a demo since this version is currently PC only (this will be the one time I’m actually a bit jealous of you PC users). I was assured that there will be a Mac update soon :)

You can get more info about Norton 2009 here!

Thanks again, Symantec for the amazing time! ..and look for more photos and videos in the next few days or so. I have a lot of both.

Cusp Conference

Posted at 12:12 am | 31 comments

I’m just getting back from the Cusp Conference in Chicago. I spoke about the internet and talked a lot on life casting. I told a bunch of stories that I’m sure many of you have either heard me tell before or actually watched them happen live :)

This was by far one of my favorite conferences. What made this one so much different is that it wasn’t based around how to make money online or an expo with tons of people pushing their products on you.

Cusp had an amazing speaker lineup of people who were passionate about their art, career and connecting with people on a personal level. It was all about inspiration, design and creativity.

These are the people I saw speak the first day: musical prodigy Thomas Chen, community builder Mike Ivers, artist/architect Adam Kalk, body hacker Quinn Norton, robotics engineer Dr. Ayanna Howard, musician Kristy Hawkshaw, intellectual property lawyer Brian Murphy, and film maker / director Douglas Gayeton.

I am very excited to have been asked to speak at this conference and it was a lot of fun! Big thanks to everyone who made that event possible. Everything was extremely organized and very well put toghgether. I will be looking forward to it next year and would definitely encourage you all to check it out if you can.

Lastly, Dayna got me an extra special junior mint treat from a candy expo here in Chicago! These are mini-junior mints — as if they could get anymore junior!!! So amazing.

I also managed to visit the Apple Store for a few minutes too!

The store front that I was talking about.

Funnest Apple Treats

Posted at 10:06 am | 35 comments

Despite what might be slightly grammatically incorrect, Apple announced yesterday at the Let’s Rock event the “funnest iPod ever” — the new iPod touch.

What’s new in this little guy? I think most importantly they added a built-in speaker. I was a bit annoyed when I tried to play Tap Tap Revenge on my sister’s iPod Touch and I didn’t have headphones!

• Built-in speakers & volume button
• Wireless support for Nike+
• Thinner with contoured stainless steel enclosure
• Longer battery life
• Now priced at $229-$399 for 8g, 16g, and 32g models

…and that’s not all kids! As we expected, there’s a new iPod nano..or should I say 9 new ones? The new nano-chromatic iPod comes in an array of new colors with 8g ($149) and 16g ($199) capacity.

One of the coolest little additions is they now have an accelerometer like the iPhones and touch! This means you can flip these little guys horizontal to view coverflow album artwork, watch movies and play games a little more effectively. Well, as effective as possibly on a 320 x 240 screen..

Oh, and did I mention you can just shake the nano to shuffle a new song in your library? Yeah, I like that.

A few other things worth a brief mention:

• iTunes 8.0 is out - new visualizer is awesome!
• NBC shows are back on iTunes - YES!!
• There’s still an iPod Classic, black or white 120GB - $249
• Steve is looking quite thin
• Nike+ is built-in to the new touch and nano’s - maybe I’ll work out now
• Apparently laser engraving is free on everything

That’s that! What did you guys think of the keynote yesterday? I still haven’t had a chance to watch it all.

Not to bring it up again, but the word funnest just makes me feel uncomfortable. Blah, Steve!
